I'd like to use a picture we took last Dec. at Disney to make an ornament for our tree. I wanted to just buy one, but can't find one that I can put a picture in. Anyways, aside from using popsicle sticks, any ideas of how to make an ornament using a picture?

We made one of these ornaments lst year. One side note. The acetate will definitely flop over if you don't anchor it somehow. We put a tiny hole at the top and used wire to anchor it to the metal thingie on the top. we also added some fake snow inside. Someone also said to leave a tab at the top of the acetate circle to fit up through the top hole. I also thought of doing this with beach photos and sand.

They sell cermic disks(about 3 inches diameter) in Michael's with a hole on the top to hang a ribbon through. I would glue the picture (Cropped, or curse) to that and then put Modge-Podge on it to seal it.

I just made an ornament for an exchange. I bought a plain glass bulb ornament from JoAnn's for like 79 cents. I ripped up different pieces of Christmas paper and decoupaged to the ornament. There is a flat spot on the ornament where I added the name of the group with stickers. Then I added more decoupage and glitter. It is definitely hand-made looking, but my son had so much fun helping me make it, he wants to make one for his teacher, with his picture on the flat spot. You could easily use Mickey paper for a Disney ornament. If I have time this afternoon I'll post a picture.

I've made them by getting a clear bulb and rolling up the picture to fit through the top, then carefully unrolling it with a pencil. Then add either confetti, tinsel, or snowflakes and put the top back on and tie with pretty ribbons. I've done it with different sized, shaped clear balls, flat round ornaments, and different filler, etc.

Last year at michaels I bought some kind of magic bubble kits. it's sort of like decupaging fromt he inside. You put the picture in and use the magic glue, then put glitter in and it glues to the sides everywhere around the picture. I'm goign to try it.

I also like to buy the pretty ornaments from Michaels that have a whole for a picture. I got a bunch after christmas for $1 last year. I usually buy them when they go on sale for 40% or 50% off. They are reguarly $2.99.

Jen,
You can find acetate at an office supply store. Its the stuff they use for overhead projectors.

I have seen sets of clear plastic balls that you can insert a photo into - in fact my DS brought one home from school last year (his teacher had taken a pic of each of them and put the date on the reverse) - i can't wait to get it out! :)

Oh I just saw cute little kits at Target (on the end cap near the scrapping aisle) thye were make you own phote ornaments. I think they were ablut 10.00 but very cute and had all the stuff you need to made some!

Though it's probably too late for you, since you already went, but what I've done is buy the keychains you can put pictures in and make them into ornaments.

www.snapfish.com will actually put them onto a ceramic ornament for you. They look really nice, but that may not be what you're looking for.
