Yes, I know, I shouldn't have splurged and bought a ham just because my 5 year old grandson said he likes it better than turkey. But, come on. Many grandmas (Na Na) as they call me would/might. Turkey is almost gone but plenty of ham left. I don't care for ham, grandson can only eat so much. My two daughters kind of like it. What can I make to hide the fact that it is ham. Casseroles, whatever? Thanks in advance for any ideas and recipes.

We like ham... Even ham sandwiches.
Don't know how to make it less like 'ham'?

I made a pot of white northern bean and ham soup.
Soaked the beans, simmered some diced carrot/onion/celery...
Combined, and when it was almost done, threw in my ham-hock.
Came out pretty good!

Put it in Mac and cheese.

This won't hide it but they may like it. Grind ham, add pickle relish and mayo to make ham salad. My people can't stand ham but when I make ham salad they love it!!! Crazy I know.
excellent idea. thank you ham salad.

That was stupid comment I made, less like ham. LOL I guess I am just tying to figure out what I can make with it so it won't go to waste.

with the weather getting colder that would be a nice idea

Ham salad is delicious and something kids would probably love (unless they really hate ham). First place I ever had it was when I bought some from the HoneyBaked Ham store. Then I just made it myself after that.

As another poster said, leftover ham will make a wonderful bean soup. Gives it LOTS of flavor.

Chop it up and mix it into a hash brown casserole. The casserole recipe is on the back of the bag of most frozen hash brown brands. Not at all healthy, but delicious. :)

16 Bean Soup.

Scalloped potatoes & ham.

Ham salad.

Scrambled eggs with ham & cheese in it. Omellete etc....

Grilled cheese & ham.

Split pea soup with ham.

Chef salad.

I just made ham and cheese quiche last night with leftover ham! Super easy. Mix 4 eggs and 1 1/2 cups half and half (or milk) with a whisk. (Also add minced onion if you want). Put about a cup of chopped ham and a cup of shredded cheddar at the bottom of a frozen pie shell, pour the egg mixture over, and bake for 45 minutes at 350. You could add spinach, too, if you want.

Ham is also great in bean soup or even black eyed peas.

I just finished a quiche like thing that my Wife makes with ham, eggs and pepperjack cheese. I can get the recipe when I have time if you'd like.

We had quiche and also ham cut up in alfredo sauce and noodles. I like the ham salad idea- I need to try that.

Chop it up and freeze it in a Ziplock Bag, then use bits and pieces at a time.

If you have a food processor, here's a great ham and cheese ball for New Year's.

HAM AND CHEESE BALL

8 oz cream cheese

1/4 c mayonnaise

2 c cooked ham, ground (in food processor)

2 T chopped parsley

1 tsp instant minced onion

1/4 tsp dry mustard

1/4 tsp hot pepper sauce

1/2 c chopped peanuts or cashews

Beat cream cheese and mayo til smooth. Add all but nuts. Cover and chill overnight. Pat into ball and roll in nuts.

We dice up all the meat and freeze it in portions. We also freeze the bone. We pull this out to do Beans/Ham, or to add ham to soups, or chop up for omelets or homemade pizza. I also like it in pasta dishes including mac and cheese. Big ham can be portioned out to do half a dozen (or more) meals over the coming months.

Of course this is not a honey ham or glazed. We only do savory hams so it goes well in the above.

Honey/Glazed ham....I don't know that there is much of anything I'd be willing to use it in, so I"d just freeze it and pull it out as a stand alone entrée every so often.

I like to use ham (diced and frozen like others suggested) in multiple meat dishes. I make sort of a jambalaya like stir fry using shrimp, chicken and ham. I also make a chicken cordon bleu "ish" casserole with chicken, ham, swiss cheese, and rice.

....you could julienne/shred it and put it in a strata [made from a mixture which mainly consists of bread, eggs and cheese]....dee-LISH!
