If you have a microwave--anything in a can

all of the canned meats--chicken salad, ham salad etc (in the soup aisle in my grocery store)

poptarts (if you can eat them cold)

granola bars/snack bars

Raisins, Craisins, etc.

We have a little coffee pot type thing. It looks like one of the old percolator pots, it just plugs in. It's small so it doesn't take up much room. You can make soup in it or hot dogs. We have always found that an ice chest keeps food nice and cold. You could buy a cheap one when you get there. You could keep milk and stuff in it. Speaking of milk, we have found that Walgreens seems to have the cheapest milk around here. We had sticker shock when we saw how much milk was at Publix the other day! We have also used one of the small plug in water heaters. It just heats up a cup of water, it is metal and it sort of loops around. Sorry about the vague descriptions!

Okay.... no fridge... but will you have a cooler? How about yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cheese and crackers? If you use one of those coil immersion heaters for water, please be very careful. A resident in my dorm in college started her bed on fire with one of those. They get very hot and can be dangerous. If your hotel room comes with a coffee maker, use it to make hot water for instant soup, cocoa and such. And I have heard of people warming food with an iron, but have never tried it myself. Again, if you try it be very careful!......................P

I love those Smucker's PBJ and cracker packs and they also travel to the parks nicely.
Fruit roll ups, bananas, crystal light (or similar) drink mix, hmmm I will post again if I think of any more.

SPAM!

One of my earliest vacation memories was camping @ the Jersey Shore and eating SPAM & Sand Sandwiches with squeeze mustard!

Just tell everyone you are from Hawaii - they will understand:earseek:

I would at least pick up one of the cheap styrofoam coolers once you get there - all the groc. stores have them. Then you can have things like a bag of salad mix, sandwich meat, a bigger variety of fresh fruits & veggies, etc. You would be able to make a variety of salads or fill pita pockets with sandwich meat, some of the salad mix, a few sliced olives and a little salad dressing. I also like pita bread with honey nut cream cheese - makes a nice change from poptarts for breakfast. We also like to have some dips and spreads for our chips, crackers, fruits & veggies. (This is something we don't often indulge in at home so it's a nice "extra" when we're on vacation and it's a little healthier than snack cakes and such.) HTH.:)

and microwave popcorn, as well as nutrigrain bars. Stuffing a bunch of snack bars from the dollar store in an empty wipes container and then into the luggage keeps them compact and not squished. I will probably stop at the supermarket there for Parmalot (milk boxes), beverages, cookies & mini muffins. Maybe I'll let DDs pick what snacks they would like....

I just bought one of those "5 DAY Coolers" at Walmart for my son to take with him on a "road trip" with friends to Disney; it seems as if this would work well in your room. Also, if you are driving, a lot of people have mentioned taking their crockpots for slow cooking in their rooms. HTH!

When we went in Jan. and stayed at Pop we had our coolapsible cooler on wheels. This was great! It was easy to fill with ice by DH would just pull it by the handle down to the ice machine every day and fill with ice.
We also packed a $10 2 slice toaster! With this we could have toast with peanut butter ( or whatever you like) and pop tarts, bagels etc. for breakfast. Then we also used it a few times for a light lunch when we had a big expensive dinner planned for that night. We had bought some ham and cheese from the deli and put them in a water proof container I packed from home inside the cooler. We would have ham and cheese sandwiches on toasted bread. we also had grapes and chips.

We did this during our afternoon nap/swim/rest. It worked out well.
Breakfast in room the to parks then a yummy snack at the parks spending around $10 then back to room for break. Fix sandwiches and either eat in room or down at a table near the pool. Then had a early PS that night for Ohanas which reallyl fills you up!! This helped us be able to afford a few PS dinners. And yet still get in on some of the great snacks offered at WDW!

If you don't have a cooler, make sure to bring a jar of peanut butter and bread. My kids love peanut butter sandwiches and ate them almost every day.

Use the microwaves and toasters in the food court. Then you won't have to stink up your room and have the neighbors wonder who let the dogs in.

Cooking in your room is likely forbidden. It's not that they are being mean, but for insurance reasons they can't allow it. Also, it stinks up your room. smells get in the upholstry- it isn't nice. Anyway, if the room has a coffee maker, you can use it to heat up hotdogs, make soup- either instant, mr noodle, or even canned. If you don't have a hot pot, use the coffee maker to boil water for instant rice. I put 1/3 cup of oatmeal in a margerine tub, top with hot water, add sugar, cinnamon, jam, whatever, stir, put the lid on and wait 5 minutes= hot oatmeal. We also eat canned salmon, canned bean salad, beans, nuts, things like that. You can use the microwave at the All Star food courts to heat up canned chili , make popcorn, etc.

Thank you all so much!!!! All of the infor really helped!!!!! Thanks for taking such time and giving such creative suggestions!!!

and thought it would be a great item for Disney vacation even if you only have a microwave. It is vacuum - sealed pre-cooked mexican flavored ground beef. The brand name is "Jack Link's" I think they make jerky too. Anyway, I found this hanging on a clip-strip in the BBQ/ seasonal aisle. It was about 12 oz (says it is equal to 1 lb uncooked ground beef) and it tastes just like my favorite taco meat mixture. Grab some flour tortillas and pkg of shredded cheese and you got soft tacos ready in no time! It was about $2.74 pkg.
