We're doing rooms with microwaves and fridges (mini? I dunno?)

I know that fruit would taste really good so that's on our list. I've decided on doing some tortilla wraps because they're easy and refreshing (even tho it'll be December, I assume it'd still be a good pick me up)

Any other good microwaveable food ideas? I don't wanna do microwave dinners (Like banquet) because I think that'd get REALLY old REALLY fast.

Our hotel does have a continental but I hear it's not good so I need breakfast ideas too.

Thanks!!

If you bring a mason jar, you can do scrambled eggs in the microwave. If the microwave is big enough, you can also micro the frozen lasagnas and such. You may be able to get food at the service deli of stores too, that would be cheaper than restaurants.

We like instant oatmeal for breakfast (especially in December).

Have you thought about soups or chili for dinners? You can pick up a sourdough Mickey head bread in DCA and enjoy it with your soup/chili back in your room. Make sure you bring some microwave popcorn for late night snacking.

We took a package of the Costco muffins to WDW in 2006 and ate those for breakfast(my mom put them in tupperware to keep them from getting smushed on the plane). Some people are afraid they'll go bad, but ours were just fine for the entire week. One muffin fills me up and I'm a big eater. My mother and sisters would sometimes split a muffin.

It may not be "original", but we've also had hot pockets, chips, and what not when we've eaten in the rooms. With the fridge, you could also take hoagie rolls and cold cuts to make sandwiches.

We had cereal "cups-to-go" which worked out great, since you don't need a bowl. We just had a box of plastic spoons. My kids are cereal eaters, and that was a quick and easy breakfast. We also had yogurt, apples and bananas, pop tarts, energy bars, milk and juice. And bottled water.

We always do breakfast in our room and it's stuff like cereal bowls, oatmeal, and bagels and cream cheese. My friends daughter likes uncrustables, so she always buys those. We also keep things like pop tarts and other snacks.

Though a little messy, bacon is also really great to pop in the microwave.

I also have this recipe which is two eggs, some cream cheese, sugar (I use Splenda) and cinnmon. Mix it up and put it in the microwave. It sounds really gross, but I like it.

Another great idea with oatmeal is to mix a banana and a tablespoon of peanut butter in it. It adds some nutrients and protein. It is also super yummy!

Hi Hi

They make these kewl packages of refried beans you just add water they taste great ..spread some of those on a whole wheat tortilla.. sprinkle on grated cheese.. and roll them up... you've got bean and cheese burritos..

also.. i made biscuits before we left..froze them..then brought some pre cooked bacon.. made gravy you just add water to and we had biscuits and gravy with bacon.

oatmeal with dried blueberries.

oohh i also i fried chicken breast tenders.. and they traveled well..

i sliced carrots and celery and brought a cucumber to slice there.. then we had the ranch dressing with it.

also i brought canned chicken breast and made chicken salad which we had with ritz crackers, olives and cheese.

we brought Soup mixes and some cereal bars too.

it's a vacation but sometimes little tummies like food they are used to.

and a small cooler can be your best friend when traveling.

***Don't forget disposable plates, cutlery and cups with napkins.***:thumbsup2

OHhhhhhhh you guys are AWESOME! I'm so printing this out LOL

My kids LOVE oatmeal and cereal.

I'd never heard of doing eggs in the microwave!

Soups will be nice in December. Awesome!!

Ok and this grosses me out and intrigues me at the same time.

The cream cheese egg mix sounds like it would be good at home. I may try to fix something like that for breakfast one of these days. I'm always nervous about cooking anything in the microwave. Not sure why. I like these ideas though.

the egg/cream cheese/Splenda/cinnamon is a low carb/high protein "danish". They are really good!!

Since I started this whole intriging egg/cream cheese discussion--here is the link for the recipe:

And yes, I am on a low carb, high protein diet so my tastebuds may be off, but I was pleasantly surprised with how good this tasted. (may want to try it at home first).

MOCK DANISH
2 ounces cream cheese
1 egg
2 teaspoons granulated Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Pinch of cinnamon

In a small, microwaveable bowl, soften the cream cheese on HIGH 30 seconds. Beat well with a fork until creamy. Add the egg and beat very well until creamy; mix in the remaining ingredients. Use a small rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl so that all the batter is in the bottom. Microwave on HIGH 30 seconds; rotate the bowl (do not stir) and cook another 30 seconds. If the center still looks too runny, cook another 30 seconds. It may take up to 2 1/2 minutes total, depending on your microwave. The center should be a bit soft for the danish filling effect. Run a small rubber spatula around the danish, then under it to release from the bowl. Transfer to a small plate. Cool until just warm or cool completely before eating.

Makes 1 serving
Do not freeze

Sorry for the double posts :confused3 I was trying to edit it to include the recipe in the post, but I guess I goofed. Hope you all enjoy! :goodvibes

I often scramble eggs at home in a glass bowl, in the microwave. I put cheese, omelet makings, what ever I want, and then nuke them. I nuke for 30 seconds stir, 30 seconds stir, and then I start looking at the doneness of my eggs. If they need an extra 10 seconds or 30, I do it.

And they always turn out well.

I think I will do this when we go to Disneyland. Eggs, cheese, pre-made bacon, scrambled and put into a biscuit for a biscuit breakfast. I will buy the premade biscuits that are frozen.

Anther tip: Soak dishes with egg, rice, and oatmeal stuck on it in cold water. The cold water releases the starches while the hot water just cooks it on more.

I also have a seal a meal, and I will be making pre cooked chicken breast, some plain, some with sauces and vacuum sealing it up. I will do a variety of different things with that.

We are driving so I can use my ice chest to take my food. We will have a fridge and microwave in the room.

Are you serious about the oatmeal thing? GOOD TO KNOW! I've always done hot!

Premade bacon is a good idea too. We always cook our bacon in microwaves so that wouldn't be too weird for us. The eggs, omlettes and that danish thing are cool ideas.
