I have not been as involved in the school this year as I went back to work. So I don't have pics for a scrapbook, wish I had.

My youngest is finally ending our family's time at the local elementary school. I have 6 children so we have had kids in this school for 18 years now!

Her teacher this year has had most of my children and I'd like to get her something special.

I know there are a lot of teachers here, any ideas?

TIA!

The parents in my daughters class all pitched in to purchase the teacher a gift certificate to a local day spa. We figured she had a tough year with the largest class size in her 19 years of teaching and could use a little pampering.

What about doing a "luncheon" for all the teachers? (We had a failry small elementary school - so this wouldn't have been more than a 6-foot sub and a couple of bags of chips). Kind of a "thank you to everyone" sort of thought? Or - instead, maybe pick up some bagels and cream cheese for a morning snack???

And a nice little something for the specific teacher would be great too! Maybe a barnes & Noble giftcard, a borders gift card etc.

I LOVE spending other people's money :thumbsup2

I bought my kids' teachers Wal-Mart gift cards, so they could purchase anything they needed for their classroom or just get something nice for themselves. I also bought a card which my boys decorated and signed. My boys gave them their card with a hug and I reiterated how much I appreciated them. Simple, but I hope it expressed what wonderful teachers they were.

My dd9's current teacher is retiring, and my 2 oldest had him, and he's been my most favorite teacher so far. I'm having my kids write him letters, and I will as well. That, plus a gc! ;)

I was a teacher and I really appreciated anything!

Gift cards are always great! The same goes for hand written notes.

If you want to go beyond that, you could always get her something personalized. I know most teachers always love that.

Or even a nice gift basket with fun teacher stuff inside is also a good idea too.

I gave my son's teacher a basket with three different sets of notecards and a pretty pen. Teachers go through tons of notecards.

Our Marshall's had really nice Lauren beach towels. I got the teachers those and did a "relax at the beach" theme for their gifts - if you wanted to add more, it's an easy theme - a gift card to a book store, a market tote or beach bag, a nalgene water bottle, a little cooler, etc

It's too late for this idea this year, but I thought it was a really neat one. One of our teachers showed us a book that her sister's class had made for her (the sister). They had taken pictures of each of the kids, had them write something about themselves and the teacher, I assume, and added snapshots of their field trips, open houses, plays and anything else. Then all were bound into a hard-cover book.

Target gift card!

As a teacher, this is really the best gift. I get sooo excited when I open the Target GC! I've gotten gift cards for a manicure or message and they ended up expiring because I'm just not into that stuff. Nor do I shop at Lord and Taylor, which is a common gift card teachers get around here. Definitely go gift card and make sure it's at a place that most people shop at.

One class a few years ago got me a Disney gift card, which was, of course, awesome!!

Another elementary teacher here chiming in for a gift card! :thumbsup2

They are my absolute favorite! :teacher:
