Ideas for beach resorts that are avoided by hurricanes?

Looking into going someplace else than Disney...not my choice! In Oct. are there any places with a nice beach that are protected from hurricanes? Maybe sometype of all inclusive...i am getting the talk...not Disney again!

Beaches (for families), Sandals (for adults) or Sandpiper in Florida are all inclusive. I know the first two have "hurricane" insurance that is with the package. If I hurricane hits, you get to come back for the additional days later. Oct. is usually "slower" for hurricanes with this past year being a BIG exception.

If your kids are older, at least pre-teen, my vote would be for xpu-ha. You need to love nature, the beach, and Mexico. It is located about 1 hour south of cancun. My husband and I absolutely loved it (left toddler and pre-schooler home) and can not wait until the kids are old enough to take them back. It is truly paradise. Almost feels like animal kingdom!
We've been to sandals and xpu-ha has a much different feel.

None of our coast is "protected" from hurricanes. If there were, we coastal Floridians would all be living there!! I think I would go with what floridaminnie has said. At least this way you have hurricane insurance.

How about a nice Lake? And certainly not one in Florida....

It is true. There is no way to predict a hurricane. . .and no way to 'protect' a beach from a hurricane. Keep in mind that a hurricane will be strongest at the beach, since it has been over that warm water building up strength and hasn't hit anything (Aka Land) to weaken it just yet.

I agree that you best bet would be to plan your vacation someplace that has Hurricane insurance. Hopefully you won't need it. . .but that way you can reschedule with no major issues. Good luck.

Aruba is below the hurricane activity area and does not get them. Florida is open season.
