I need ideas on what to give/do for DD who is turning 18 on St. Patty's Day. We have decided not to have a party since in May will be her graduation/send off party(she will be going to basic training). I want to make the day very special and memorable, but am lost. She is a simple girl, and the only item she has asked for are a pair of gold Tom's shoes. WeShe have them and we purchased a cross pendant/necklace with diamonds(first diamonds ever for her) that she can wear while she is away. We live just outside St.Louis, so that morning we are going to go to the St.Patty's day parade then to lunch at her favorit restaurant........I need ideas to make this day extra special! She is going to be leaving us soon for the air force and I need this day to be perfect! TIA

I am trying to think of something special to do for my daughter's 18th birthday also. She turns 18 the day after she graduates from high school and we are planning a big graduation party for her with 11 other families. I don't want her birthday to get totally lost in all of the graduation festivities. We are thinking about taking her and her boyfriend to an extra-nice restaurant the weekend before her birthday. Maybe Ruth's Chris. I'm not sure yet.

My 18th I really enjoyed going to Dave and Busters with just a few friends. It was nice to not have a huge party, just a couple of close buddies playing video games, lol.

Nothing to contribute really, but please wish your daughter a happy birthday from us & thank her (in advance) for her service!!

Is that parade in Dogtown or Downtown? I can't remember :rolleyes1

My DD just turned 18 on March 1st, and with graduation and prom and all the other good stuff, we decided to keep the party down a notch. So the 1st fell on a Thursday so I kept her home from school and we went out with some Aunts, cousins and grandmother about 6 of us total. We went to lunch of her choice and then shopping, she wanted a new I-Phone because hers was cracked, a pair of jeans that were $60.00 and an outfit from Victoria Secret. After shopping we went and had pedicures, and she got a manicure and pedicure. When we got home we had cake with my son and husband.
She says she really enjoyed the day. On Saturday I had a small get together for some relatives.
Enjoy the day you create:)

I have a soon to be graduate that is turning 18 in April. My suggestion to him for a "party" is to go to an adventure course nearby with a group of friends. Ziplines ect.....

Thank your daughter for taking that very brave step!

Well, if she wants gold Toms, she'd probably like the silver pair, as well... a girl's got to have her metallic neutrals! :cutie:

As for things to do, you could...

Decorate her bedroom with balloons and streamers while she's sleeping (or if you're scared you'll wake her up, try the living room/kitchen).

Make her breakfast! Pancakes with sprinkles? Cupcakes for breakfast? Whatever you think she'd like!

Decorate her car with window paint - "18 Today," etc

I'll come back if I think of some more ideas...

Thanks so for all the replies so far..........we are less than a week and I have gotten some great ideas! Also, a huge thank you to everyone for your kindness and support! She has made a huge decision and we are very proud, I am a very scared momma too-but I guess we raise them to become strong and independent, right? We will be doing the downtown parade, but there also is the dogtown pararde! Good luck to all with your grads!!

What about the City Museum. My brother spent his 19th birthday there and had a blast. You're going to be downtown anyway :thumbsup2

My sons turns 18 tomorrow .... I asked him what he wanted to do (I already had a pretty good idea)--CASINIO! He has captains practice for baseball all this week (spring break) so we are leaving at 3pm today & we need to be home by 11a tomorrow. A bunch of his friends will be meeting us later, I have 2 rooms reserved & a car full of snacks/soda. He can't step into the casino til 12:01 - so I'm sure they will play cards in the room until then. He is SO exicited-- Can't wait :)

Is the gambling age different in each state? I could buy lotto tickets at 18 but no casinos until 21 :(

For my 18th my parents gave me $100 for scratch offs and 21 they took me to AC.

I would not bring that cross pendant to basic training, if that is what you meant about wearing while she is away.

Casino's here in MN are 18. I'm not sure about other states. I assumed they were all the same w/ the exception of Vegas.

Since she is going into the service maybe a nice swiss army watch with a
inscription written on the back.

I did this for me son when he joined the service, he loved it.
