Hi everyone! My DD11 is having 5 girls over Fri. night to spend the night (yikes!) and celebrate her birthday. Has anyone done this with this age of girls and if so do you have any ideas to share? Should I just let them do their own thing, i.e. listen to music, watch movies, etc.? I kindof want some ideas to fall back on in case they get bored. I know we'll probably order pizza and have cake. I'll have some games on hand too. I guess I'm just getting sort of freaked out having 6 adolescent girls under my roof! Sometimes I have a hard enough time with my one! :scared: Any ideas or whatever you can share would be greatly appreciated!

I think my DD had a bunch of girls over for her 11th birthday, oh, yes, they were here, they came down for cake once :rotfl2: . Seriously, they played in DD's room the entire night and were perfectly capable of entertaining themselves. I am not quite sure what all the did but they did some karaoke, played some board games and at 10:00 they went to the family room with sleeping bags to watch a movie. They had been at a basketball tournament all day and were tired and were asleep by 10:30. If they hadn't been so tired, they would have stayed up later and layed in their sleeping bags and giggled half the night. I would just have some food for them and they will be fine.

I've done the slumber party thing for my dd 5 times now. (She's 12). Here are some ideas:

Food: Make your own pizzas
Make your own sundaes
Decorate your own cookies/cupcakes
Dessert fondue--chocolate sauce with lots to dip in--angel food cake,
brownies, fruit, etc.

Game: Bunco or variation--play for dollar store prizes
Piggly Wiggly--girls hide in each other's sleeping bag while one girl is
"It" and waits in another room--returns to poke each girl, who
oinks and It tries to figure out who it is by the oink

Other: Fashion show/dress up
Movies
Visited an animal shelter as part of the party and later made
homemade dog biscuits to give to shelter
Crafts such as: Make your own picture frame, bracelets, stuff an
animal as in "Build a Bear"
See a movie at theater as part of the party

Good luck and may God help you! :sunny:

I have a younger cousin and for one of her birthdays around that age, all of the girls decorated pillow cases. I thought that as a very neat and fun idea.

At that age they love hair- have some hair stuff and beads. My DD came home from a slumber party at that age with about 15,000 beads and braids in her hair or so it seemed as I helped her remove them. The pillowcases are cute.

Making the flip flops that you wrap the fuzzy yarn around are fun to make and just in time for summer! that would be perfect for 11 yr old girls.

Have lots of food 11 yr old girls can out eat the boys at that age.

I did this for DD's slumber party a couple of years ago. Michea's has fabric paint pens that work great for this.

I made her cake in like a bed that year too. I made a sheet cake and put big marshmellows at one end for 'pillows' and then decorated the cake so it looked like a bed spread.

Kids love to do karaoke. They can also pair up and make up dances.

How about having a spa party? They could do their hair & nails (toe nails, too, of course!).

Bless you! I'll be thinking of you.

I let the girls decorate pillow cases at my DD's 10th birthday slumber party. They loved it. As SC Minnie said, I bought fabric paint pens. I also bought the iron on patches, fabric glue and ribbons.
Our Club Libby Lu's store has a spa/facial kit. It is very reasonable in price. If you have a store near you, you can buy a couple of those kits and let them do facials. I have already promised DD that she can do that with her friends on her 11th birthday in July.
Have fun! :teeth:

Some of the things I seem to remember doing at slumber parties at that age:

-Giggle and prank call boys

-Scavenger hunt around the girl's neighborhood. Her mom went out and used landmarks around the neighborhood and stuck clues in pink Easter eggs for us. It brought us right back to the kitchen where there was a whole host of fruits and cakes for fondue dipping (which I saw mentioned above). I think it was a great idea on her part to tire us out.

-Wrapping toilet paper around eachother to see who could get through whatever number of rolls the fastest. I think we ended up in a pillow fight, too  Mom had thought ahead and cleared the room of lamps and valuables (Bless her heart!)

-Board games! Great too for the girls who fall asleep a bit later than everyone else.

-I also remember a huge moive concession stand that had all the traditional movie snack like Raisenets, popcorn, gummy bear, snow caps, nachos, and pretzel nub things. We had all gone out to Blockbuster before that and rented 3 or 4 movies. I am sure it worked out to the families advantage to bring us all home and do that.

-One of the Mom's got the clear acrylic picture frames and all sorts of puffy paints, feathers, etc. We made them at the party and when the Thank You note came in the mail, there was a picture sized to fit perfectly in the frames we'd all made.

They'll have s blast!
xoxo
