Idea! Send In Flats!!!

Hi,

If we are taking the time to write letters and send them to actual address why not make flats of your avatar with your avatar name and a message on the back of it and send it in with your letter.

Hmm... could this have anything to do with what I posted 20mins ago?

Similar to what we did with Jericho.. I strongly suggest teaming up and going directly to WDI and THEN to the news stations. For instance... why don't we flood WDI with out flats? Can you imagine hundreds of our vmk characters scattered around?

Once we have a story (we found out they were canceling, this is what we were doing, this is what we did, heres whats happening etc) than its time to go to the news stations.

It makes a better story when your trying to fight... and not when your trying to complain.

I have also suggested that we send in group flats. Family and friends that have been brought together (or closer together) by VMK.

We may be cartoons, but it so humanizes us rather than just a bunch of text!! I will do this for sure!

Great idea. I saw a few days ago someone suggested it to but it sort of got lost in the threads.
Im going to work on mine tonite. Take screen shots of your CHARACTER, and your friends, family , and loved ones and flood disney. Make them look at our sad little faces.

I think it has ALOT of potential if it's down correctly... for instance I would skip the letter aspect (for now) and send flats... potentially a flat of everyone on your friends list, etc. with the same certain phrase on the back. The phrase whould have to be powerful and meaningful yet simple.

A flat is when you take just your character and cut it out so its like a puppet. People used to bring their flats to the park for instance and take pictures of them there

Woot! Finally my guide comes in handy...

Check my signature for links to guide, and pics of my flats from the past years. If you look at the 2006 flats I did in June (the MORE JUNE line), you will see a pic that says, "On the Backlot Tour in MGM..." -- there you can see the difference between professional laminating and those lamination sheets that you can buy in stores. The one on the left (Fox.he), was made with the sheets you buy in stores (it gets a bit of a glare on it when you take a pic). The 2 on the right were professionally laminated -- much clearer (also was able to cut the edges a little better).

Dude, her thinking I was crazy was totally worth her expression! No wonder my dh and dd started staying far away from me when I continued asking characters to hold my flats -- they didn't want to be associated with me!

This sounds like a great idea! Amazingly, last night before I saw any of these flats posts, I got the whim to start making one for once. Now I know what to do with it that can help make a difference! Maybe someone was trying to say something to me about that...lol

One question though, where do I mail them to? Anyone have an address for where we're all sending them, or at least a link to a thread if it's already been posted? Thanks!

Hey guys I for sure want to join in to help the cause, but my printer and I are no longer on speaking terms. So seen as my printer has gone to the dumps, could somebody please make a flat for me?? I would really appreciate it.

Edit: I live in the middle of nowhere so I don't have access to an office supply store lol

Save VMK Today has a couple of snail mail addresses. I'm sure there are names and addresses in a number of threads, too, though.

And for anyone who doesn't have a color printer, remember that a lot of office supply stores and copy centers will make really nice color printouts for you for a few dollars. Just make sure to fill up as much of the page as you can with avatar pics - so long as you're paying for it, no need to waste any space!

Real letters will make so much more of a difference than emails or petition signatures ever could, and the flats will really add a personal touch that'll help even more. We were talking about sending in flats on Tuesday night; I think it was in the thread with the pics of Lily talking about writing to Disney? But nobody ran with it, so I'm really glad Bug posted this thread. Way to get people mobilized, girl. :
