i don't know why Disney hasn't thought of this already...

Pixar Pals Character Meal

Location: Hollywood and Vine at Hollywood Studios

Obviously it would be Pixar characters

The twist is that you don't know which characters you'll get until you turn up - it could include characters from all the popular Pixar movies, maybe you get characters from a couple of movies each meal, at random.

Could you imagine how popular this would be? Would be a popular option with boys and girls. And it would have great repeatability (not even a word) value as you want to see different characters.

I think they need a counter to the princess meals. I'd love to see the "princes" get a meal (Hosted by Prince Phillip and featuring Flynn, Shang, Aladdin, and Kristoff).

I'd also like to see a Disney Fairies meal so we could meet Tinkerbell's pals.

Beyond the fact that I do not think there is any need for an additional character meal, I think it would be a nightmare. You would quickly be overwhelmed by angry folks who wanted/expected a specific character and when they got there that character wasn't there that meal. I don't think it is worth the effort or would work for most people.

Well, it wouldn't be additional, it would be instead of the Minnie's Holiday Dine or whatever, which hasn't had great reviews. And, they would have to make it clear when you book that the characters are from a selection of Pixar movies, not all Pixar movies, etc etc

Eh, the "specific character anger" already happens some places. I know there are people salty about H&V not having Miles from Tomorrowland for instance.

The poor reviews on Minnie's Dine are about the FOOD, though -- not the characters. Swapping characters does nothing to change that.

I wouldn't like not knowing what the characters were until we got there. But, I think it would be easy to have a Toy Story character meal once the new TS land opens up. Maybe Woody, Buzz, and Jesse.

How about different characters for different days of the week- Monsters Monday, Toy Story Tuesday, Wall-E Wednesday, etc.? You could plan your visit around the day of the characters you want to see.

Hiring, training & staffing would be a nightmare. Who would want a job where they were Wall-E only on Wednesday?

I think there are lots of opportunities to make more restaurants into character dining outside what they are doing already.

I would love to see Star Wars dining.

There is a good chance Disney has thought of this and decided not to execute it for various reasons. They could make a lot of money off of this, so there was obviously something that prevented them from doing so.

I think the issue with Pixar is that outside of Toy Story there isn't a movie that they would consider a lasting classic or a pop culture phenomenon to warrant having Pixar character dining. I bet once the Toy Story area opens at Hollywood Studios there will be Toy Story dining. My dream character dining would be a meal filled with only classic characters from movies that came out prior to the Little Mermaid. My other dream character dining? If they turned the new Skipper restaurant at the MK into a potc themed place and Jack Sparrow and other potc characters were there.
