Hi Everyone,

I don't know if I am posting in the correct Board, But here goes.

Me and my DD are going to the World on May 3 and we will be going to see alot of characters and would of course want autographs.

My question - I do not want to carry around an autograph book with us and was wondering if anyone had ideas of other things that we can use to get signatures on that will be easy to either wear on us or easily put in a pocket. Someone had suggested a white cotton skirt that we can fold in our pocket or she can wear over her shorts and pull out when we get to the characters.

All ideas will be appreciated

Thanks in advance

Nathan

I know you said you dont' want to carry an autograph book, but I would highly recommend this book.

It was great to look at in line while waiting for the characters and my kids love looking at it now at home. They even used the trivia questions to quiz the CMs at the park (photographers and character handlers).

It's a slim, lightweight book, and makes for a great souvenir. We had 24 characters sign on their pages.

Anything with white canvas.. totes, shirt, backpack, hat etc.. just bring a couple diff color sharpies and it'll look pretty cool.

You could do a hat or a pillow case. I don't think they will autograph a shirt that is being worn, so it would have to be carried.

Our best ever was a cast, but I don't recommend breaking your arm to get one. :teeth:

Word of warning about having a cloth item signed, you'll need something for them to bear against. And to hold the item taut. I personally used a mini clip board and binder clips. But that means more to carry. It ends up being as much as an autograph book.

Also, do not use Sharpies on fabric. Use Fabric Markers. While Sharpies are great on paper and are permanent to a degree they will fade over time.

Another idea is Index Cards. You can even find some images online of characters that you can print on post card size printer papers. Break them apart once printed and just stick a few in your pocket each day.

But my favorite item to have signed was the above linked book. DGD loves looking at it again and again

We take spiral bound index cards & a couple of "clickable" Sharpies. Easy to fit into a small backpack.

There are phone apps such as SignMyI that might work if you're interested in digital scrapbooking. Maybe get a big chunky stylus for the characters to hold.

I just ordered the book from amazon, I am thinking to make some color copies from the book and make my own book, smaller. maybe even put a string through it so we can carry it easier.

I remember a few years ago, I bought a white baseball cap and they signed that.

Things to ponder :confused3

I'm actually making an autogragh book. The character interactions are even better for a homemade book. I'm going to put it in a Ziplock bag to carry in my backpack (because when have I not gone to WDW and not had at least 1 day of rain). Whether you do a book or a garment, I definitely suggest putting it in a Ziplock.

Can I ask what you are making the book from?

A cute tote bag would be nice! And it would be convenient to carry around the parks!

We've done a pillow case which was fun.

Our next one is an LLBean tote for the characters to sign. Something we can still use after our trip!

Just a tip...if you decide to do a "wearable" item the characters will not sign it if it is on your body. :D

i bought this book from Amazon, the pages are somewhat glossy, will a permanent marker work on those pages?

I know you said you'd rather not carry anything, but for our last trip we bought several postcards in the resort gift shop and had the characters sign the backs where you would normally write. Our boys wanted to do something different from their autograph books and enjoyed picking out their favorite postcards from the selection offered. We were able to get at least 3 signatures on each- depending upon the character. They turned out to be a great keepsake of their vacation!

A permanent marker (Sharpie) is actually preferable, in my opinion. I had no smudging with it, nor can it be seen from the back of the page. I did have some transfer with regular pen, so on some pages, the mirror image of the signature can be seen on the back side.

Thank you so much for the recommendation! I am going to order it right now. My girls each have shirts and fabric markers but I am getting the book and some sharpies for myself:smickey:

One quick question for those of you who have the book, is it big or heavy to carry around? We won't have a stroller and really don't like bringing much into the parks with us, usually just a small bag if anything. Will it be a bother to lug this thing around all day?

I'm a big fan of the retráctabl/"clicker" style sharpies, because I have no separate lid to potentially drop while I'm juggling camera and book!
