Just had this question pop in to my head and was hopeing someone here could help. What ID do people use in WDW? Im 23 so will defo need some! Do they accept uk provisionals when buying alcohol, or am i best to carry my passport around?

Thanks in advance :)

I carry my passport. And I was ID'd at the resort a couple of years ago when I bought a small bottle of wine. I can assure you I look waaaaay over 21!

I was asked for ID when I was 39 - it made my holiday.:rotfl2:

A passport is definitely your best option.
Other than that I have used my UK driving license but I don't know what they would accept other than that. I guess one of the problems they face is that they have no idea what is a genuine ID card in the UK and what is a fake.

Yer thats true, i work in a bar and unless it was a passport i wouldnt know what an american ID looked like.

Oh no you don't!! They never ask me :)

You have to order alcohol if you want them to ask ;)

They ask as a matter of procedure. The staff are trained to do that to protect the establishment. Rather than leave it to the discretion of often very young staff, it is easier to have a set policy that everyone is asked for ID.
Still, I prefer to take it as a compliment :rolleyes1

Used my DL for ID since I got it 9 years ago, use it for ID when paying by CC & buying alcohol, even though I am 44 they still ask the odd time. Never carry my passport around.

passport - not just for alcohol..if you participate in the segway tour they can ID you as well (and anything that has an age requirement)..

they ID'd DD for the segway tour....you have to be 16 years old for it....
she was already 21 and boy was she annoyed that they thought she wasn't even 16...

on the other hand, when we went into pleasure island (back in the good old days when there was a pleasure island), they didn't ID DS, who was only 17 (you needed to be 21), while DD, who was 21 was ID'd (and she was TICKED OFF that she was ID'd, while DS wasn't...

anyway...we use our passports...

I wouldn't ever risk carrying our passports around.
Wherever we've been in the US and needed ID, we've found they're happy with anything that has your photo on it.
We generally use our RAF retired service cards. (Which are also occasionally handy for getting discounts. :) )

I do not have a photo driving license and last year was asked for I/D in WalMart when using a travellers cheque. I have a M.O.D. security pass, so I will trying using that in a few weeks time

I've always used my UK photocard driving licence in the US as I hate carrying my passport around with me!

Only time I've ever had a problem with it was at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Citywalk in Los Angeles where they refused to take anything less than a passport. Didn't have the same problem at the HRC in Orlando though!

Just be careful taking it abroad - when we went to Venice and my Mum's handbag got stolen, with her MOD pass in it, she got into loads of trouble for having taken it out of the country.
