The last time we went to Universal (in 2004), I bought the non-expiring three day passes, used one day and then sold the other two days on ebay thereby lowering our one day cost substantially. Is it still possible to do this, or has Universal instituted somekind of ID system that would thwart this penny pinching strategy?

They use a biometric scan, similar to Disney's on the multiday tickets.

Yep they were using the biometric finger scan last week for our 7 day tickets. It worked on the first try about 30% of the time. After the 3rd or 4th try, they usually hit a button on the screen and let you through. They are still working out the bugs.
