I wasn't planning on making our own Autograph books, but they are just so DARN cute! I have a few questions for the experts out there...

do you prefer the 4x6 printed photo's or cardstock?

is there an issue binding 4x6 printed photo? Do the disigns get cut off?

who is the cheapest out there to bind?

How many cards do you usually print out?

I have an Epson PhotoMate Dash that prints 4x6 photo's ( I'm an avid scrapbooker) and I thought maybe I could print the autograph cards myself on either photo paper or 4x6 index cards...

I am TOTALLY up for suggestions as I am a total newb at this...

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

I would suggest using 4x6 index cards or cardstock instead of photo paper. The glossy photo paper is harder to write on with a pen and would smudge if you used a sharpie. I use 4x6 index cards and print them myself using an HP Photosmart 8250.

If you bind them, a small portion of the page may get used, but they still look pretty good. I don't bind mine, I carry them loosely and then put the signed ones in a photo album for my boys to look at. How many cards you need is up to you depending on how many characters you'll be seeking out. I try to write down the character meals were going to, and the characters by park that we'd like to see. Then add a few more misc ones and I'm good to go.

Have a great time. I've used the autograph cards on our last 2 trip and we have loved them!!! Caution -- It can get very addicting!!

It's just another addiction, I'm already addicted to the shirts!! Thanks for the tips, I think I may also be able to slightly shrink the image so that the image isn't affected. I'm planning to remove the pages and add them to a scrapbook later. I'd like to bind them for my DD's so they can carry them in their hip-packs.

Thanks!!

Instead of binding them use a little clipboard and a fat rubberband. Clip them all to the clipboard and then hold them down at the non clip end with the rubber band. You can also just put the ones you need for the day on the clipboard and then you don't have to drag them all around. When you go to scrapbook them later you wont have to cut anything off.
We did this and it worked wonderfully with my sister. She was 8 at the time.

I buy these journal books 6x8, that has a removable binder, and has about 35 pages of nice weight archival free card stock. I run the card stock through the printer (I set the printer to custom paper 6w x 7.50h) and they come out perfect. I then just rebind them When we get home I trim of the bindings and put them in the scrapbook

I print and cut mine at home. I have it bound at KinKo's for about $4.50. I like to have all the pages together in a book.

The characters and CM's like to look through the book to see what it's like.

When we get home I scan the pages into my computer to use in my scrapbooks..........

Natalie,

I really like that design with the binding at the top. Now the trick is do I print them on 4x6 index cards OR on sheets or 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock and then cut them all out. Do you print your sheets out in 8 1/2 x 11 and then cut and bind them?

We are doing ALOT of character meals plus MNSSHP so I will probably need to do duplicates as well. I think we'll be dining with Cinderella at least 3 times! :yay: 1900 Park Fare, CRT and Askerhaus Princess Lunch. I'm thinking we are going to see a bunch of characters...

Thanks!

I printed them on heavyweight (28 lb) 8 1/2 x 11 paper and trimmed them like below....

Natalie,

I'm sorry, I know I'm being a pest!! Do you resize the "picture" when pasting it so that it is 4x6? I'm having to resize it in order to get 2 per page in portrait view so that I can keep the 1 inch margin at the top of both "cards". Clear as mud right?? I'm using word and pasting the image, with a margin of .25 left and right and then an inch at top and bottom.

This is a little harder than I thought, but I am NOT going to give up!!

Thanks a TON!:worship:
