....for the DIS-CON II

I know on the other thread there was some concern about things to do with the smaller children (3-10). Though my son is in that teenager group, so would still have to figure something out for them. What about planning a day somewhat around them. For instance and this is with the condition if there is going to be an Illuminations Party, to plan it on that day.........

Spend the day in the MK doing the rides in fantasyland or another land with children from the DIS-CON. Then have a late lunch party (say about 3:30 in the afternoon) at the Crystal Palace. This way after the lunch, those who feel thier child needs to take a nap before Illuminations would have the time or if they just want to go back to the hotel and take a dip in the pool and then get ready for the party.

It's just an idea. But, coming up with something this early is what those with small children would have to do to make proper arrangements.

Now maybe this year the teens will actually get together and do something.

Thanks for listening

This is a great idea! :) A few people tried to plan events for the kids, but for a variety of reasons, many of them didn't materialize.

I originally planned the Fantasyland meet for the young kids. As it turned out, we had a bunch of over-grown 4 year olds show up! :D (xoxo Festive hat-wearer's....and non-festive hat-wearers. ;) )

I think something special for 10+ would be great! A thrill ride tour, a few hours at the arcade, a scavenger hunt for them, etc.

I'll keep thinking on this one. :)

:::razzing Barry::: Hey Barry! I even mentioned 'thrill ride tour' in the same sentence as 'scavenger hunt' :D

LOL I know you hated it Barry. But I loved doing the scavenger hunt! I just wish I was a bit more clever in finding the answers!! I'd love to be doing that again. SOME of us had a blast running around getting answers. :D
I think having small group activities for the younger kids is a great idea. I don't think there were enough kids involved to do this last time. That's why those plans didn't materialize. JMO I think we're going to have more attendees and possibly more families, so it may work this time.
Not to upset you again, Barry....but I felt the thrill ride tour got kind of long. I pooped out around the middle of the third park. Maybe we could split it up or just do two parks. That way it wouldn't take up a whole day, too. another JMO ;)

I'm with you Barb, I really enjoyed the Scavenger Hunt a lot!!! The only thing that was tough, was that it was ALL over the world in just a few short days!!!

I will personally eat all scavenger hunt sheets if I find out that you are doing it on the next thrill ride tour. I can also let the dog sit and slobber on your sheets. :)

Hmmmmm...let's see Barry,...you'll eat the Scavenger Hunt sheets????
Even MORE incentive to want another Scavenger Hunt!!!!!!!!:D (j/k)

We were hoping to be able to do one of Disney's kids programs but it didn't work out. They have some really great educational programs available but they had a minimum of 10 that had to be confirmed 6 weeks before. The logistics of scheduling was difficult with those restrictions. It would be great if one of these could be arranged as an add on event to the convention so it wouldn't require separate registration.

I think a playground mini-meet for the younger kids would be best. Trying to keep a group of kids and moms together for a ride tour could be difficult. Some of the playgrounds like Dino-dig are enclosed and the kids could play while the moms relaxed. Dino-Dig is one of my 7yo's favorite places and I'm sure having lots of friends in one of those playgrounds with her would add to her enjoyment.

I know that I'm not going to DIS CON II, but I'd like to throw in my $.02 worth.

For the 6 to about 13/14ish the Youth Program that Janette spoke about. They last 3 to 3 and 1/2 hours at the cost of around $25 (as I recall).

For the Teen Scene I would like to recommend Disney Quest. DQ is included in the price of the convention park passes and the girls and I spent over 6 hours there. We really had a lot of fun!! I can't think of a teen alive that wouldn't have a really good time there!! (Hint: It is right across from Circque de Soleil.

Adults could do Circque, while the teens spent time @ DQ.) By the way, DQ has two separate eateries, one with public Internet service :), I spent an hour there sipping lemonade and reading DIS board posts ;)
