Ice Water!

After coming home from a ten day stay a few weeks ago, I couldn't help but think about how many times that I saw large families ordering bottles of water for every family member. Doing so is very expensive, with bottles running at three or four dollars each, and I don't understand why they don't order ice waters! Every food service location will give you a cup of cold water with ice for no charge! I totally recommend doing this!

Some people (me included) don't care for the taste of the water at Disney World. Plus it can be a hassle to go into a place, wait (or cut) in line, and get a small glass of water. I'd much rather buy the water than drink what they hand out.

I agree. Everyone says the ice water is filtered etc but I tried the free water a few times at a few different places and it always has a funny taste to me. Rather pay the money than deal with the funny taste.

We've never had any trouble (at any of the parks) asking for and receiving large cups of water rather than the small ones. (Obv that doesn't take care of the taste, but that's never bothered me. If it did, I'd just take some flavoring drops with me and keep them in my purse.)

I live in an area where city/county tap water tastes like a swimming pool (chlorine) and the well water tastes like rotten eggs (sulfur). So I'm used to funky water. If it's cold and free and I'm really thirsty, I'll drink it. I'm fine drinking from a water fountain for that matter. Wets the whistle and is as convenient as it gets.

We aren't fond of the taste of the water at Disney World...not even the water that is filtered. Two of my kids will drink it but the other 3 won't and my husband and I don't either. I'm not overly fond of bottled purified drinking water either -- I prefer Spring Water -- but it is the lesser of two evils for us at Disney. So we're one of those families happily buying 5 bottles of water. Don't really care how much it costs...it's insignificant in the total price of our vacation. We plan to buy 10 bottles of water a day when we're at Disney (we don't usually end up buying that much, though) so that's just part of the amount we need to save before taking a Disney vacation...it's less than 2% of the overall cost.

Or they can substitute their beverage for a side or dessert and get a refreshing and free ice water. :)

hum... I didn't know that I could substitute the beverage for a side. My family don't drink soda so I usually get juice for kids and Perrier for DH and I . Frankly I would get embarrassed if I substitute beverage for a side and then asked for a cup of water... I am from NJ. if I do that in NJ I would get a nasty look from the restaurant. :headache:

Nobody will give you a nasty look at DW. I prefer tap water and I don't like the taste of most bottled waters anyways.

Some people have claimed a funny taste. If you go to the CS location and request an ice water, it is NOT tap water. It comes from the soda fountain so it is filtered. I always get it or order water in the restaurants which is fine. From the tap, yes living in FL, I will tell you not to drink tap water here but in WDW you are 99 times out of 100 not getting tap water when you order it at any restaurant.

:lmao: :rotfl2:

Dont the restaurants use the water from the soda fountain? im positive they do, because I can taste the difference between the tap water and the fountain water. In any case, i'd much rather line up for a cup of free ice water than line up to pay for a bottled water. When im really thirsty, any water will do as long as there's ice in it. :teeth:

we buy a couple cases at staples and have them delivered. I like to take a drink when I want drink. Not have to scope out a qs place, wait in line, and drink funny tasting water.

I also don't understand why people would pay for all that water. We are very picky with our water taste (or lack thereof) as we have very good well water at our home, but find the filtered cups of ice water at the CS places was very good. Would never drink any water - ever - from the fountains though - because of taste and iccky factor!
