Ice Storm!!!!

Well,

I am now in the middle of my first ice storm here in NC. We just came in from an evening out with some friends and when we got to their house it was just rain. When we came out again after about 4 hours, there is an eighth of an inch of ice on everything. This could prove to be very interesting! In NYC, we had ice storms, but I didn't drive everywhere. Now that I am driving my own car it is an entirely different ball game.

Tomorrow driving to work should be very very interesting!

Stay WARM and be safe driving! You'll find most people here in NC don't know how to drive in ice/snow. We're supposed to (fingers crossed) just get rain.

Watch out for the other drivers. Our last ice storm we lost a big tree and had no power for 2 days. Be careful.

If you can, stay in for an hour or two and let the rest of the traffic do a little melting for you. NC gets terrible ice storms, but not frequently enough for us all to be pros at driving in them. Stay in bed an extra hour or two if you can!!!!

Arden....can't find it on my atlas. Tiny place???? My daughter is in Shelby and has to drive at night ALONE! Better check on her. Are you in the mountain area? I once lived in Blowing Rock and loved it. Sure miss NC...any part of it!

How funny...I'm not even across town from you and we have nothing-it was hardly misty here earlier. Maybe that's why my grandparents called to make sure we were home, because they could have had something. Seemed crazy and paranoid at the time.

Do you like Arden? We originally looked at apartments over there, but it was going to be too far for me to commute.

Arden is just south of Asheville....a suburb really and a very nice place to live. We love it here!

As for staying in an hour or so....not going to happen! I am an administrator for 2 group homes serving teenagers with Autism. If some of our staff cannot make it to work, we have to work the floor and are expected to set a good example for our staff by pitching in to help. So, I will be one of the first people at work tomorrow if school is cancelled.

Thanks for all the good wishes. I am going to drive very carefully and have eyes all over. I am just going to hope and pray that it warms up just a bit and that school is not cancelled.
