Ice storm = re-thinking of resort

After the NC ice storm and three nights in a small double bed with DH we are thinking of changing resorts to be assured of queen beds. Are there ANY moderate resorts that have queen beds and do ALL deluxe resorts have queen beds? We also have a DS so one king is not a good option. If we can't find a resort we can afford with queen beds we might consider a king room and add a cot for DS. Has anyone done this? How confortable are these cots?

Thanks for any help.

I believe all of the deluxes have queen size beds, but I am positive that the GF and Contemp do.

I know that in some of the rooms at BC there are only double beds. Not sure if YC follows the same way. The Poly has Queen beds in all of the rooms.

I think all of the deluxes have queen beds. If you decide to go the king bed route, the moderates have some rooms with king beds but they have to be reserved specifically.

We too have 3 inches of ice on our yard with numerous trees down. We now have power, but what a mess. Kids may not go back to school until Wednesday. Honestly, sleeping in double beds is just not comfortable for a family. Your only option in moderates is Port Orleans Riverside--it had doubles but also a daybed for added sleeping comfort. My family has decided to splurge for AKL in order to have the 1 queen and set of bunks. Hopes this helps. Wonder when Disney will realize that even moderates need queen beds, everyone would be som much more happy!

How about having DS share a bed with one of you?
I always have my own bed on vacation. It's not like we are going to have any romance going on with my son in the room.

Hi Jordan's MOM, We're up here in Mooresville & finally got power. Thankfully, otherwise our March vacation $ would have been spent on a generator! Three kids and no power does NOT equal sanity! To keep it on topic, Riverside has two doubles plus a trundle bed in some rooms which also might work for you.

The studios at OKW also have 2 queen beds. The other DVC studios have a queen bed and a sleeper sofa.

Thanks everyone for all the great advice. We are hoping for a good code and go for one of the deluxe resorts but are keeping all the options open.

lorilori, We are very close to you!! Thank-goodness for the power. DH also mentioned a generator and i could see my WDW trip fund taking a major blow!

GONETODISNEY,We too are ready to get back to normal. No school tomorrow. I see spring break going fast and I just heard them mention winter weather back in the picture for mid-week. I thought we lived in the SOUTH!!

Wishing for Orlando right now.

someone else suggested - that one of you sleep with your son.

No way my husband and I would sleep well in a double bed together. So he gets one son and I get the other and it works out just fine.

Have fun!

The contemp had two queens and a daybed. All five of us slept very comfy! The wing rooms are pretty affordable with a code.

Kalllison,

That is just what we were thinking of. Will be looking hard for that code.We are going December of next year so lots of time to wait. Thanks so much.
