"Ice" @ Gaylord Palms

Has anyone been to this? How was it? Is this something that would be wheelchair accessible? My DH, D-sis & I are thinking of trying this in December when we go. Is it something you need tickets in advance for or can you just go and get tickets there? Are they open every day for guests to visit the attraction?

Havent been to the ICE exhibit in Orlando, but have at the Gaylord Texan here in Dallas. It is GREAT. We had no problems with the wheelchair access. We take out of town visitors when they come and they LOVE it.

We went in Nov and loved it! My parents also came and really enjoyed it; they're in their late 60's. It was the Fri before Thanksgiving and still could easily buy tix at the door, not very crowded. I don't know how it is during Christmas or TG weeks.

It was well worth it and nothing I recall that a wheelchair couldn't fit through. There were very wide aisles. With everyone wearing the same blue coat, it was hard to recognize my own kids. lol!
I don't think I'd need to see it every year but be prepared to take a LOT of pictures. It's so amazing.
It was funny: I was warned at the door to bundle up. I figured FL locals just can't handle cold weather so I said, "I'm OK. I'm from NJ. We're used to the cold." OMG! By the end I was so cold I couldn't take any more pictures my hands were frozen.
I would bring a hat and mittens if I ever return. Just so I can spend more time enjoying the sights.
They charge for parking but give you a $2 off coupon inside and free hot cocoa. We never got the cocoa b/c it was getting late and to get the cocoa you had to go to another part of the hotel. We were cruising the next day and had to get up early.

They were having a special when we went. Any Orlando AP holder could show AP and kids got in free with each paying adult. That helped.

Ice is wonderful. No problem with wheelchairs.

Purchase your tickets before you go on the Gaylord Palms website for a little discount, and to avoid the lines when you get there. Try to go right when they open in the morning as it gets very busy as the day progresses. Don't forget your camera.

We went two years ago and loved it. We were told about it while standing in line at Disney and just called and went the next day. We are Florida people so the chilly cold was wonderful. I recommend it to anyone going in December. The only thing that wasn't great was the parking was more expensive than Disney. But that's all in it.

I have a different opinion than previous posters. We went to ICE at Gaylord Opryland this past December, 4 adults and 4 children (ages 3-6). Yes, the ice sculptures were amazing and very whimsical, but it was SO cold. I thought we would manage just fine with the temperature and came prepared with hats and gloves, however after 30 minutes, we could hardly feel our feet. The younger ones in our group were ready to go after 15 minutes. The older kiddos lasted almost an hour, but it took another hour to get our body back to feeling normal. The price was around $75 (my family of four) for less than an hour of "entertainment." For us, it was not a good value and I would not do it again. I am not even glad we went once.
