Ice cream social?

What? Its an afternoon break where you get a fancy ice cream cone/sundae creation, meet Farmer Mickey, Pluto and Chip n' Dale. The ice cream is in a waffle cone with some toppings, "glued" to a cookie by chocolate. Kid's treats may be somewhat smaller and come with things like gummi worms.

When? Seatings at 3:00 - 3:30 or 3:45 (I think -- could be wrong on the end times) daily.

Where? Garden Grille in The Land @ Epcot.

You must call ahead and make a PS for this activity because seating is limited. (The treats are prepared each day and they need to know the number to make. )

It's very good and a nice break from touring Epcot.

It's for anyone who wants to make a PS. There will be lots of kids there, but for $6.99 per person it's a great way to get the character interaction without having to splurge for one of the pricier character meals.

When we're there in March, we'll have my DD's friend, who is diabetic, with us. Do we need to tell them that when we make PS, or can we wait to get there to tell them she wants sugar free ice cream?

I think you'd have to call in advance to make special requests. They make all the sundaes ahead of time and keep them in the freezer.

A really fun time, the restaraunt rotates on a turntable slowly. Very relaxing afternoon treat! :mickeybar :mickeybar :mickeybar

Thanks for the info, I think I will make a PS when they open back up from Charley

We went in May and it was great. It was DH, DD (17) and myself. Chip & Dale both came over and we took pics with them. Mickey came over and I got a pic of him with DD, then he came round behind DH & I and DD took a pic of us.

The only one who didn't stop was Pluto. But the other three came by a couple times.

We have been to Garden Grill before, (for Thanksgiving) and enjoyed that. This was a nice, relaxing snack for the early afternoon.

We have a 3:10 PS for our first day and can't wait. We (DS5 DMom65) wanted to catch some magic as soon as we could and I've read the character contact here is nice since it's a smaller environment.

AladdinsPrincess, it's not just for kids b/c I've read on other posts that they have a rehitching marriage ceremony for those who choose.

It seems like a great price for a character dessert.

We are doing the ice cream social in Sept this time. We thought it would be fun--something different. There will be four adults and we are all kids at heart! I called about the re-hitching ceremony as DH and I are celebrating our anniversary and they told me that its only done at dinner--not at the social. Bummer! It will still be fun and with me being pregnant this time--I love ice cream!!

I'm going to move this to our restaurants board.

This was the one of the major highlights of our trip in September of 2002. We had such a great time. I encourage anyone that just thinks that they might enjoy it to try it out. If you can be patient, the characters will definately show up and entertain you. Chip and Dale put on quite a show for us. Give it a try! Maggie

We're planning to do this. It will be an inexpensive way to see some of the characters, and plus, my kids LOVE ice cream! I'm going to look into the Rehitching ceremony as well!

Just made PS for Ice cream social with the rehitchining ceremony to surprise DH for our 10th anniversary. Our DD's 8 & 2 will love it too.
