Is the homemade ice cream and cookies sandwich that they used to have at MSB no longer available for a snack credit? I read this on the Disney Food Blog and was so bummed - I have been looking forward to one on our October trip.

Can you provide a link? I did a search on the DFB and didn't see that news come up.

Most people are saying that it is no longer a snack credit. It is still available for purchase, though. A very select few have mentioned that if you ask the CM at the register, and they say "yes", then you can go ahead and get it as a SC...just don't count on it. :(

It was in the comments section in this post: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2011/...tcake-sundaes-at-storybook-treats/#more-37261

drat! Now I'm kicking myself for never getting around to trying one on a previous trip. Weren't there other spots (MK and AK) as opposed to the Main St Bakery to get these? I wonder if the rules have changed there too.

Since getting it for a snack credit sounds iffy, does anyone know if you can still get it with your QS meal as the dessert? In '09 we stopped at Main Street Bakery and used our QS meal - we ate the ice cream there and took the "real sandwich" back to our room for a later snack. I hope that still works.

People keep reporting they just got one of these "last week" on the dining plan, but we've been to WDW 3 times this year, and it has not been allowed for dining plan credits any of the last few times we've been in MSB (Jan, Febuary and September 2011)...there's no "DP" logo next to it on the menu, and we heard the people at the registers turning people down. One guy in front of us left his order of ice cream sandwiches melting at the cash register when he found out he could not use snack credits for it.

If it's not allowed for a snack credit, it won't be allowed for a dessert on the dining plan meal, either.

If you're paying cash, would suggest splitting this item...it's very large...it's two over-sized cookies and then large scoop of ice cream in middle...so it's more like putting 3 snacks together. We split one ice cream sandwich among 3 adults and was plenty for all.

I had an ice cream cookie sandwich from MSB in late August: choice of oatmeal or chocolate chip cookies, and it was a snack on DDP.
