I had heard on one of the boards about a ice cream social at (I think) the Garden Grill in Epcot. Does anyone know about this or has done the ice cream social with the characters? Thanks!

Michelle

Hi TIGGERMOM! Yes we did the ice cream social last March. You have to make a PS for it. It's a cheap way to meet the characters and it's a nice way to take a rest in the middle of the day.

I heard it is alot of fun but just ordinary ice cream. Nothing special.

I'm hoping to do this on my next trip. Which characters show up for the social?

Hi. We've done this twice. It's usually at 3pm in the afternoon and does require PS. When being seated for the icecream social, you're seated on the top tier of the Garden Grill. The characters that are normally there in farmer attire visit the table...Mickey, Minnie and I think Chip & Dale and perhaps Goofy. The icecreams were quite the plate of icecream. I think http://www.wdwig.com has a link to the icecream social with pictures. They're quite large and very good. And, to agree with Big V, at approx. $8.00 a person, one of the very least expensive ways to have some one-on-one with the characters.

We went last Sept and enjoyed it a lot! The characters there were Mickey, Pluto, Chip and a very feisty Dale. The ice cream was ok; there was more than enough. The Garden Grill is a neat restaurant and it was very relaxing to be in there.

Thanks everyone for your input on the ice cream social/character greeting. I think I'm going to surprise my DH, DS (5) and DS (1 1/2) with this when were in Epcot. This is the perfect character dining for us because we LOVE ice cream and Disney characters. What a great combination. One more question. For those of you that have been, what's the best time (3:00 or 3:30, I think)?

Thanks again
Michelle

They only have one sitting now and I think it's at 3. Remember, you have to make a PS for this, you can't just walk in and get it! Have a great trip!:)

My DH and I did the ice cream social thing on our Honeymoon and really enjoyed it. We got Rehitched there :-) Very neat because you have mickey and dale there watching the whole thing. Then Mickey grabbed my hand and ran off with me for like 5 minutes or so. It was great. If you go when it is not so busy, Mickey spends more time with you. 3:00 is the time of the social and the way they bring out the ice cream is really neat, very disney like.
Hope your kids have a great time. I know they will love seeing all the Characters!!

My DD & I loved the social. It was peaceful, comfy, cool and relaxing on a horrid hot day. Sometimes it sells out - the day we were there in late july we called about 60 minutes ahead and still got in, but I think they were doing 2 seatings in the summer.

We had PS for our trip in November for the Garden Grill. It was definitely worth it! The ice cream was wonderful! And, the characters (Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale) really paid attention to DS. Granted, there were not many people there at the time. It was a lot of fun!

This is definitely going to be one of the stops that we make when we go to Epcot. It sounds like the boys (and mom too!) will love this.

55 days until we go and I just can't wait!!!!

Thanks again!
Michelle

This sounds like a really nice outing for our grandchildren when we go in February. Where do we make the reservations and what is the phone number? I would also like to know who to call or where to find the place that reserves breakfasts. lunches etc. for the Mickery character eating.
