What color is the IASW hippo? I have a picture her but not sure if the color is exact or not. I was thinking it had more purple color. Or is it more pink?

When I searched the internet for pictures the ones I saw didn't look like this hippo. Does IASW at WDW have a different hippo? :confused3
Important question, I know. ;) But I do have a reason for asking.

I'm sure it looks purple when you see it in person. I think in the pick you have the flash washed out the color. It really blue in that spot normally. The pink and blue give the hippo a purple hue.

I'm almost positive it's a pink hippo w/purple flowers on it.

I don't know about the WDW hippo though.

I wonder if it used to be more purple color and changed over the years? :confused3 The hippo was always my favorite part of IASW. :) I wanted to do my nails in a IASW hippo inspired theme. :rotfl: Guess I'll go with pink.

Yeah, it does and I'm not sure if that's the right color or if the color is off in my photo.

It's changed a few times over the years. I remember it being green with flowers when I was little (1980s), then in the early 90s it was painted a (disappointing, but probably cost-effective) solid color, brown, IIRC.

Though I still don't really know what to think about the recent addition of characters to the ride, I do very much like that the sets and animal AAs have been restored to their original detail :thumbsup2

Ok, then it isn't just me thinking it changed colors. Brown! Yuck!

I do like the new characters because they are so well blended in that they can be hard to find, so it is fun to look for them. Gave the ride a fresh new interest for me.

What I like best are the bright color combinations. As a preschool teacher I'm always drawn to children's book with bright, colorful, clear pictures. I don't like those with bland, washed out, watercolor pictures. I think that is why the hippo always stood out to me. But I also like those birds in the rain. :goodvibes I'm looking forward to seeing the Mary Blair exhibit when we go.
