I haven't flown through IAD before and will be coming in on a very small plane and departing on a regular jet. When I pull up the airport map, I can't see a concourse for commuter flights. I know in most airports the small planes fly into a separate area. Does anyone have information on Dulles? I like to know the set up in advance so that I don't get off the plane and waste time trying to figure out where to go.

Not sure but print the map and take wit with you. when you get to the airport for your first flight ask to see fi they know what gate/terminal the next flight is.

Dulles is pretty big. Depending on the airline you could be taking an automated train or something resembling a bus between terminals.

What airline(s) are you traveling?

That's why I'm trying to figure it out in advance. United and United Express.

Carriemel,

Thanks for the link. I think it's there on the IAD website, but I couldn't open it for some reason.

Do you know if the numbers by the airlines (1-4) correspond with the concourses which are labled A-D? If so, they show United and United express both in the 4 or D concourse.

Thanks for the information :)

No, the numbers only correspond to the ticketing areas for the airlines. From what I remember of IAD, United takes up the majority of C and D concourses. A was all commuter flights, and by that, I mean mostly the prop jobs. B and a few gates on C and D were various other airlines.

Thanks again. I found some information on flyertalk and you are right about A being the terminal for small planes. Then I got really smart and just looked up the flight status for the flight yesterday and sure enough is landed at an A gate.
