We will be traveling from Ohio, and are thinking of stoping to spend the night to SW Florida. Anyone stopped at Tifton, or Valdosta? I was on Marriotts site, and they have locations at each. It will just be mom and 2 boys. I would like to have an indoor lobby, not motel like.

I have stayed at the Tifton Courtyard (I believe it was Courtyard or the next higher level of Marriott chain).

It was clean and efficient, but nothing to write home about.

I don't think Marriott has a chain that does not have an indoor lobby.

I would highly recommend the Hampton Inn & Suites Valdosta/Conferene Center, which is located off exit 16. My family and I have stayed at that location the past 3 years and once again we have a reservation there for next month. The rooms are very clean, they have an amazing hot and cold continental breakfast and there is also a business center with free internet access if you need to check your e-mail and etc. So here is a link to that Hampton Inn with all the information about it.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn, Lake City last year, was brand new at the time, paid $115, would stay there again..

Thank you everyone for your input. Keep them coming. This trip there will be no stops at Disney, but I knew these boards would be helpful.

We stayed at the Microtel in Tifton this past May. It's right off I-75 and was great! It's brand new, the staff was VERY friendly. The room was spotless.
The free breakfast was terrific. All this for only $69! :cool1:
It was a great find and I hope to be staying there again.

We stayed at the Tifton Fairfield Inn. Inside lobby and inside hallway.
Good free breakfast.

Not sure of the rate as we stayed on points.

Anyone else drive down to Florida in I75 from Ohio or near? ANy good spots. Depending on the day, may take my kids swimming that night at the pool too.

My family and I are not from Ohio, however we drive past Ohio when we go on I-75. As for good spots to stop at well in Kentucky off exit 29 you can visit the very first Kentucky Fried Chicken.

We stayed at the Wingate in Valdosta last month. It's a new hotel. Very clean and very nice.

We stayed at the Days Inn on 6/11/09 in Tifton. Everything was acceptable. The rooms are all the inside access style --they don't open out to the parking lot.

Room was decent, breakfast was decent.

AAA rate was 62.99.....with taxes it was 70.55.

We arrived at 10:30 pm and pulled out at 8am.

We booked by calling the hotel direct. If I had done it on the web I could have saved a few dollars.

This was a last second decision to leave ATL and stop in Tifton.

I wonder how much more it cost to book the day we want to stay. I am not sure exactly where i want to stop. My thought was to call when I had more of an idea.

I believe the hotel rates are would be the same if you were to make your reservations now or the day of. Now that's not counting any discounts you could get with AAA or those hotel coupon books that you could find at McDonald's or Wendy's along I-75.
