So this morning my Dh says he can't get money from the ATM find out whats going on. I log onto my bank and I am $4,700 overdrawn!
Well, since I had deposited a check on the 20th for $5700. I figured they put a hold on it. I call the bank to find out and they told me that a stop payment had been put on that check, didn't I receive anything in the mail? (they put the stop on it at 3:52pm wednesday and I'm supposed to have already received mail on it Thursday morning at 7:00am)
This was check from our brokerage account because we cashed in some stock. I was furious so I call the brokerage account (now to be refered to as TD). So I call them (this is 7:00 am) and they said that ther local branch office that cut the check shouldn't have because the stocks hadn't cleared yet. I guess they hold them for 10 days
. So they put a stop payment on the check yesterday (the 22nd). They never called me to tell me this or anything! I was fit to be tied because of course by now things are bouncing everywhere!
They tell me I can be issued a new check on Monday. WRONG ANSWER! I told them I wanted to speak to a supervisor. Thankfully, the guy was real nice and understanding.
They took full blame and said he would call the local branch to have them wire the money into my bank account and that they will refund me any returned check fees.
I went to our bank and explained the situation and they said they would pay everything until things got worked out. Of course I'm still going to be charged fees.
So I never heard from the local branch and I called them around 11 when I got home. They said they can't wire me the money they would have to send a check. WRONG ANSWER! So I insist they wire the money and told them I was already told they would do that. Well, now he has to call and get permission for me and my DH to fax him a letter of authorization. Um.....DH works in the field....he doesn't have a fax machine. Well, unless we have it by 2:00 there's nothing we can do today. It is now 12:30. TD calls back at 1:10 and says OK you can fax it but it has to be here by 2:00....
DH got back to the office by and got the fax to TD by 1:55.
Thankfully the money has now been wired and tomorrow I'll send them my bill for bank charges. We're looking at over $200 in fees!
What a long frustrating day!
