How many suits does each cast member have? I mean, they obviously have to be washed! Anyone know how many?

Also, how long does a Disney costume take to make? Both ones with full body suits and ones with just outfits? (If you know what I mean)

Usually 5. That's all I was ever allowed to check out at once.

My husband worked maintenance, and his clothes were provided by Cintas instead of Disney. He had about 12.

Edit: Sorry, those are just regular cast member costumes. I have no idea how many character costumes there are or how long they take to make. I do know the most expensive one is Belle's yellow dress from Fantasmic. It could be a nice down payment on a house.

Disney has their own laundry services. I believe they legally have to clean the character costumes between shifts.

When I worked at Sci-Fi you had two choices either you could change at work every day or you could be a cast zoomer. If you changed everyday, you went to work in your street clothes adn then checked out your costume, went into the locker rooms to change and then headed to your location. This usually added on about an hour to your work day, but you didn't have to wash them, you just checked them in and Disney did the rest. The laundry facilities at Disney are located past the Ale House (if anyone knows that road)

If you were a zoomer you could check out 5 costumes and take them home and wash them yourself. The nice part of zooming was that you could just drive to work in costume, the bad part of zooming was trying to get gas in costrume. I go so many funny looks pumping my gas in my high-necked, puffy sleeve Grand Floridian "peach nightmare" (as I lovingly refered to my costume there!)

As far as the character costumes, one of my roommates worked with characters and as I understand it, they were sprayed down with some kind of disinfectant daily and then dry cleaned when they got really dirty.
