Inspired by a couple of threads lately, how would you complete this sentence. Did you feel this way before you had kids? Everyone is welcome with their opinions, not just parents.

Mine would be, "I would never let my child be disrespectful to an adult." Now, I know that my child might just say something that is disrespectful without my knowledge, but she knows that if I get wind of it, she's in trouble. I have had my daughter apologize to complete strangers when she was rude. I did feel this way before I had kids and, so does my husband.

I would never let my kid think it's okay for someone to disrespect them.

Well, back when I was a complete idiot I said "I will never let my baby cry.":laughing: Yeah, that lasted about 8 hours. My first one had bad colic so we got used to the crying pretty quick. Mine AND the baby's.

"I will never let my kid suck their thumb."

DD was handed to me in the hospital with her thumb in her mouth :headache:

:rotfl: ::yes::

I used to say that, too. Specifically, "I will never let my baby cry on an airplane." :rotfl2: I was lucky in that my kids were/are great fliers, but it's funny that I thought I'd be able to just "make them stop."

I would never let my kid eat McDonalds, or eat processed baby food out of a jar (organic only bahahaha)

I will never let my kids sleep in my bed. :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Yeah, RIGHT!!!! Oh, well, I love snuggling with them when they come sneak in my bed! I know they won't do it forever, so I enjoy it while I can! :goodvibes

I would never let my kid hurt an animal. Or treat a pet like a toy.

This may be the one thing I did manage to hold on to before and after having a child!

"I would never let my kid get away with being a bully or a jerk."

I can't say my kids haven't ever bullied each other, or been jerks, but I've called them on it every time. And now "nice" seems to be the word everyone uses to describe my children. So I think I'm doing okay. :thumbsup2

I remember saying that I wouldn't let my child act up in a restaurant in my pre-child days.:rotfl:

We did leave on several occasions, but I certainly remember a few restaurant scenes from her toddlerhood that I would love to forget.:blush:

That is awesome. Bullying is something we won't tolerate as well. Being a middle school teacher, I certainly see enough of that.

I would never let my kid go through life wondering if I loved them.

Thought it before kids and implemented it after kids.

I won't ever let my kid get a facebook page before the facebook required age of 13!! Can you tell we are having this discussion in our house lately? :lmao:

My pre-baby days: I will never let my baby have a boogery nose/face. :scared1: Used to gross me out when I'd see babies and kids with the dried booger all over their noses and faces. What is wrong with those parents? Why don't they clean that poor kid's face? :rotfl: And then I had a baby, who got a cold. :eek::sick: You just can't keep up with the mucous production. :laughing::laughing: You can clean them morning, noon and night, but somehow they're still a mess. And their poor little noses get all scabby and sore and red and you feel horrible wiping their faces for the millionth time that day.

And for my other "I will never"...I will never let my child make the same mistakes I did. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I was so naive. :sad2::sad2::laughing:

I'd probably pick what the OP said, no disrespecting of adults allowed. But I understand that I can't really 100% control how my kid turns out, so I'll stick with something that is in my control and that I didn't have growing up:

"I will never let my kid think that their father and I don't love one another. I will make sure that they see us tell each other that every day."

Me too!!! No way my 10 year old is getting one. She can hate me now and respect me later!! :lmao:

I would never let my kid wear clothing with sayings on her behind.

I would never let my kid bully another.

This is exactly what I was going to say and yes we stuck to it.

I would never buy my dd a Bratz doll (although others have bought them for her).

awww I like this one. Me too. I tell her I love her 100 times a day lol ok that might be a bit of an exaggeration. I swear the sweetest words I will ever hear are "I love you too mommy" melts me every time lol

but I won't copy lol I'll come up with my own.

I will never let my child run around a restaurant.

I do NOT understand people that do this.

DD3 sits at the table... period. We can play at the table with crayons or counting sugar packets or whatever... but she absolutely cannot EVER run around a restaurant.

My brother always let his kids do this when they were 2-3 and everyone in our party always laughed at how cute it was. not me. I don't get it. :confused3

OMG. I swore up and down on this one too. Kids with boogery noses just make feel ill. :sick:Unfortunately, someone played the ultimate joke on me. DD was born with a nasal defect where her sinuses on one side of her nose were cut off from her throat... all the snot came out the front. :scared1: I had to live with those giant boogers for 5 months until they fixed her nose. At some point it became funny... but I still hate seeing a boogery kid.
