I wonder why Disneyland doesn't use Autopia space for something new?

Well I absolutely love Autopia and would be very sad to see it go. Its an original attraction, if its not broke then dont try to fix it is my saying.

my personal opinion is that i don't see Autopia going anywhere. It is a staple, many amusement parks around the country have the same type of attraction. Yes, the cars go slow, your on a track, etc...But for many kids, it is their first tast of driving. For me it is such a nostalgic ride that takes me back to when i was my children's age i was just as excited to drive the cars then as they are now. I don't see Disney ever eliminating a ride that accomplishes so much. I would say that the fact that it is a popular attraction is testament to that.

Regarding the forthcoming Cars attraction at DCA, i don't see that detracting from Autopia one bit. It is in a seperate park and it will be a totally different type of attraction. It will utilize technology in the Test Track ride in Epcot. I don't see it bearing any resemblence to Autopia and thus not in competition.

I like Autopia and would be sad if they took it out but I agree there could be some changes to make it better like a pedal that's easier to push and making the cars electric. I doubt there will be any electric cars while Chevron is the sponsor though.

seriously! I feel the same way about Capt Eo...BORING def not something we will be doing when were there!

One of the original attractions of DL (slightly different track layout now and only one loading area instead of two).
Is nothing sacred?
Is it exciting for an adult? NO, but very nostalgic
Is it exciting for a child? Yes
Leave it alone.

:confused3

I think Autopia would be way more popular if they upped the speed of the cars! ;)

Just got back and most rides had no wait, others 5 minute wait.. well Autotopia said 25 minutes .. we were waiting for Jedi acadamy so I thought fine we will wait in the line.. more like 40 minutes. I don't get it.. there was like 20 cars just sitting there not running.. get the other lanes going! the kids did love it though..

....o Innoventions (used but - ahem - boring)
Have you been recently? The Dream Home is pretty cool. The storytelling of Peter Pan is absolutely magical. ASIMO is cool. And, and, and.... If you haven't been in a few years, you should check it out again.

Is Autopia REALLY that popular?
DH & I don't go on Autopia, but yes, it REALLY is that popular. There is always a line (and it's a FP attraction!). It's an attraction we don't "use," but sooooooooo many others love it, which is what makes DL so great - something for everyone. :)

Every time I have been there it has been way busy. I would think Disney would be changing or removing the ride. It is not a very "green" ride in a very populated area. I how many PPM of noxious fumes we are inhaling and when will be the first big lawsuit from an asthmatic who is brittle and dies.

My kids love that ride and they all drive..it is a classic.

Maybe I'll see if my kids want to try it on our next visit. Who knows, they might actually really like it. IDK, it will depend on how long the line is.
