I wonder what to expect in Orlando?

Everyone is nervous. If your family is all together in WDW, what can be more wonderful than that? If anything, the extra security there is probably making it safer than a large mall near your own home. Try not to get yourselves sick with worry (I know it's hard) and I agree with the idea to block the world out and enjoy WDW. Of course, don't turn a blind eye to anything unusual you see at WDW and keep an ear to the news for anything important.

I agree 100% with PamOKW. I was in Disney during the 9/11 attacks. In my trip report I stated that I couldn't think of a better place to be with my family than WDW. It was as far away from reality as you can get. For me personally, I just got off the phone with my travel agent. I booked a trip to Jamaica in July for my family and I. Life goes on and I'll be damned if anyone is going to rent space in my head.

Just a comment about the "slack bag checks" at WDW. DH always carries a jack knife in his pocket. We use it as a tool to fix just about anything at any time. He really didn't even think about having it. At Epcot, one day, he put the knife in his belly bag, and had it confiscated. We had to go to the security office to pick it up at the end of the day. That is the good news. The bad news is that he carried it in his pocket the rest of the trip with no problem!
