I won a contest, BUT I need advice!!

I was meaning to update this, but kept forgetting so thanks, Mal!

I did accept the prize and I've already received most of it. I was amazed at how fast everything was delivered, it came before my certified return receipt! I received 3 big boxes containing 10 disposal cameras, 5 boxes of golf balls (worth about $25 each, we don't golf so I'll probably eBay these), golf tees, 25 fishing style bucket hats, 25 frisbees, 25 beach balls and footballs, 25 water bottles, 25 yo-yos, 25 water cooler cup type thingys, and a really nice cooler with wheels and a long pull handle (I was expecting like a styrofoam one or something!).

There was a letter saying that my 25 family name embroidered t-shirts and family name banner would be coming in 6-8 weeks since they have to personalize that.

In all, I think it was a neat prize, but I don't know what I'm going to do with most of this stuff! My kids had a blast playing with everything but they don't need 25 of each item! I think I'm going to take some of the balls & frisbees to some graduation parties and hand them out to the kids there. I haven't seem the t-shirts yet but I'm still doubting the $1000 prize value. However, I was told that was an "estimated value" so I'll see what the 1099 form says when I get that. If nothing else, this experience has gave me the motivation to keep entering those contests. This was a 1x entry (not a daily) and I always though you had less of a chance to win those, but I guess I was wrong. Now I'm just waiting to win my WDW trip! :D

Sounds like lots of fun stuff!

I think the "big" grocery one that I won ($3600), I only entered once (although it was a daily entry, I just didn't do it). That was back before I was *really* doing these everyday. Since then, well....

But I think most of the ones I've gotten since then have been daily entry things. I'd have to go recheck the rules about the Martha Stewart one, but I think that was a daily.

You just never know, that's why I keep entering, I guess. :)

And chances are, if they tell you the estimated value is $1000, that's what will be on the 1099. :( I guess you could price everything and dispute it if you don't feel it's right. But I wouldn't know how to go about that.
