I Wimped Out At Mission Space

I'm OK on Star Tours but queazy on Body Wars and Teacups. I find on Body Wars it's OK if I close my eyes. I wonder if that would work on MS?

..how 'bout NOT GETTING ON???!?!?! [LOL] :teeth: tee-hee-hee!
(sorry, my mom always said I have a warped sense of humor!)

Susy, I'm pretty sure your 5-year old won't be tall enough ... would he?

Starwood two other people + 1 CM told me to close my eyes and it would lessen the sensation.

They did approach me after the ride and asked me if I would share with them why I changed my mind about experiencing the ride.

pintrader, it amazes me that so many people have no understanding whatsoever about motion sickness, anxiety, and the like. I have SEVERE motion sickness, and most folks just don't have any idea how I feel. I have to take dramamine just to ride in the car. It does not make me able to ride spinning, dropping, or fast rides AT ALL!!! I would think many people would pass on MS due to fear of getting sick, as they should. After getting sick on a ride, you DON"T just feel better as soon as you get off. Nor do you throw up and then feel "all better" and get on the next ride! You generally feel sick for some time after, maybe hours!!! Prior to discovering dramamine, I used to get severely sick after a couple of hours in the car and would feel sick DAYS....Lacee

Laceemouse, you are one of the "unlucky few," like my Mom. My Mom is OK if she drives. She can't ride in a big car that feels like it's "floating" -- no Tiffany Towncar for her. When we were kids my sister and I would be fighting in the back seat and my Mom would threaten us with "When we get home..." because if she turned around to smack us she'd get instantly sick! Somehow I was spared this DNA and I don't get motion sickness at all. In fact, I usually read an Oprah-type novel every time we drive to WDW.

Motion sickness is REAL. It's cause lies in the fluid of the inner ear and when there is some upset, it takes considerable time before the sufferer feels normal again. Dramamine helps make "normal" travel possible, but it doesn't make you want to go out and ride looping rollercoasters...

See you on the wimpy rides!

When in doubt don't ride!!! I have been carried off more than one ride and it is not fun. These were all rides I was assured by the people running them that the ride would not bother me. The most ill time was on a ride at a non-Disney park where I sat on a stationary bench and the ride was a cylindar that moved back and forth like a sailing ship in a storm. My seat did not move! When you have no safety restraints you think you will be fine. Even with my travel sickness med. I will send my hubby on a test run of MS before risking it on our next trip!

Even with Bonine, Body Wars made me ill. I just closed my eyes and rode it out once the nausea started. I've read that it is possible that the movie and motion on simulation rides can be slightly out of sync. If this happens, those of us with motion sickness are doomed!

Above all, avoid being the owner of the "protein spill."

I have awful motion sickness, but I can't function with
regular dramamine...Can you buy this Dramamine 2 over
the counter??? Help, I leaving in the morning for WDW
and would love to ride MS

I don't know anything about Dramamine 2, but I always buy Bonine and it is over the counter.

We were told to go to MS after 4, and we could ride it then. It was not open earlier in the day. DH, DS & DD went and walked right in. They tell you several times before boarding about the warnings which include motion sickness, tight and close spaces, dark areas with loud noises and spinning. My DH who rides anything came off saying never again. I think he started having anxiety attack along with nausea, which he never has had before. He said it is really close spaces you can't move at all and the G forces are nothing like you'll ever experience again.
There is no comparison to Star Tours, Mission Space is much more intense!
