I will not use the heater!!

It's 53 degrees and your not going to use the heater????
Dang! You are hard core!!! When do you turn that sucker on? When the fish bowl starts freezing over?

LOL, my chihuahua is making this weird Brrr noise while staring up at me on the couch and I told her to get her butt under the covers with me! Since it is just me home (well the dogs are here) then I just can't make myself use the heater..too expensive lol.

:confused3 Why won't you turn on the heater? Are you trying to make it through the whole winter without it? Even with carpet and warm clothing we have to turn the heat on when the weather is less than 60 degrees outside.

ETA I just read the kids aren't home. It makes more sense to me now - I was having a hard time fathoming what you were thinking.

Well, our landlord put in a new AC/heat system early last month and somehow hooked it up to where we have to use emergency heat versus regular heat. The bill is insane with that setting so until he comes to fix it next week, I am no way using that thing lol. We used it three days last month and our bill went up over 50.00!! So its blankets and warm clothes until it gets fixed lol.

Your a better person than I am!! If it was me alone I'd think "Hmm...there's no one here to see me act irresponsible...I'm crankin' that baby up to 75, putting some shorts on, eating an entire pint of hagan dazz and watching The Hills and The City and all of those other brain shrinking shows my husband makes fun of!!!
I'll be a good role model when the kids are home!!!

I would be getting the landlords butt there right now! Why do you have to wait till next week or are they going to pay your heat bill until they can fix their mistake? Aren't you pregnant too? No excuse...either they should fix it immediately or pay your bill for having to use it the way it is! Sorry, I have been preggers 5 times, so I feel for preggies:laughing::hug: Stay warm;)

Trust me I want to...they are out of town for the holiday which is why I have to wait grr..

Yes, I am 32 weeks preggers and bundled up so much that the only thing out of the blanket is my hands and face lol..its not toooo bad lol...

Hopefully the cold spell we are having breaks and we go back to 80 degree weather!

Eh, I think you are fine-just bundle up. We don't turn our heat on until we have a below-freezing night or 2 here in NC (haven't turned heat on this fall yet, and probably won't for at least another couple of weeks). And, when the heat is on, it is set to 62 degrees. We are fine with the temperature- we just put on fuzzy slippers and sweaters, and cuddle under blankets when we watch TV on the sofa.

We run the heat around 68-70 degrees, my doc has advised me that getting too cold could be just as bad as getting too hot! I'm cold as is with the house around 68 right now. I have 2 fleece blankets and a wool knit blankie and I'm freeeezing!

I am the same way! I hate using the heater. When it's just DH and I it doesn't make since to heat the whole house and space heaters can be just as expensive. I actually caved last night though and turned it on. It gets cold here at night but it's still getting hot in the day so if we use the heater too much at night we'll be too hot during the day :lmao:!

We have tile floors too and leather furniture. I never feel like it gets warm in the winter, whether we run heat or not. Since we have hairless dogs who have a high internal body temperature, I'm always snuggled under a blanket with my own personal heater.

I live in MA and I have only turned on my heat once. It got turned on, on a really raw, rainy October day. I have electric heat so I'll throw on a sweatshirt before the heat gets turned on. On the plus side, My house gets all afternoon sun so it's not too bad. And electric blankets on the beds keep us warm at night.

Aren't dogs great for that? I love how they are like my own personal heater!

The thermostat (livingroom) said 70 when I got up, but it was 66 in my bedroom. I can't stand being cold so I put the heat on just to take the chill off. I couldn't survive with it being 53 inside. I know it's at least 71 in the house right now, but I'm still freezing. My hands are so cold they hurt. I guess I'm just not normal.

You live in southern FL- I'm sure to you, anything less than 80 is chilly! :rotfl: "Normal" is all relative. I have relatives who live pretty far north, and they think anything over 40 is shorts weather.

The strange thing is I used to live in Buffalo, NY so you'd think I'd be used to the cold. People down here say your blood thins when you've lived here for a few years and you can't take the cold anymore. LOL

You guys sound like my husband. The thermostat says 64 but we can not turn the heater on. The cats are all under heated blankets and I'm bundled up with a hot laptop in my lap.

Then you will glad to know that here in Buffalo, it is currently 37 degrees. Miss it yet????:santa:
