My May trip was originally going to be a solo trip with the focus on trying all new restaurants. Somehow, the trip blossomed to 5 people with some late additions that had me changing my ADRs. Although I'm going to be repeating some places from previous trips, my goal is to try something new and not get anything I've had in the past. We'll see how long that lasts!!

I'll be at POR from 5/14 - 5/21. Here are my dinner ADRs right now:

La Hacienda de San Angel - repeat
Yak & Yeti - repeat
Cape May Clam Bake Buffet - NEW
Kona Cafe - repeat
Raglan Road - NEW
Sanaa - NEW
Flying Fish - repeat but it's one of my favorites at Disney

I'm skipping the dining plan this time and will be using a TiW discount.

Sounds like a great time to me! Enjoy Raglin Road it's one of my favs.

So what's your favorite there? I've never been and the only thing that stands out in my memory from other reviews is Ger's Bread Pudding! Somehow I always seem to remember the desserts!

Yeah! We are also checking in to POR from the 14-21! :cool1: Have a great trip!

Have a wonderful time! I'll be using a black crossbody with a bright pink Mickey head pin on the front. If you see me, say hi!

Have a great trip!

Looking forward to reading about it :)

Thanks, DQ!

My May vacation finally arrived and it's sadly over! That means it's time to do my dining reviews.

The first night we ate at La Hacienda. We shared the botano appetizer which was enjoyable (sorry, no picture). I also had an avocado margarita. It didn’t seem to have much of an avocado taste to it; it just seemed rather bland.

I had the Pescado a la Talla. Grilled tilapia with roasted corn, nopales and mango chutney. The tilapia was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Everything on the plate worked well together. Flavorful without being overpowered by any specific spice.

Would I go back? Definitely! I would try a different drink because I just wasn't impressed with the avocado margarita. Service was great as was the food! A great start to the vacation!

The second night dinner was at Yak & Yeti. While the service left something to be desired, the food was very enjoyable.

We started by sharing two appetizers. The lettuce cups and pork egg rolls.

The lettuce cups were huge! Plenty of food for the three of us to have two generously filled cups. The chicken filling was warm and perfect inside the cool, crisp lettuce. The tamarind sauce added a bit of heat. So good!

The pork egg rolls were piping hot and crisp. Not soggy at all like they can sometimes get. I didn't try the chili sauce that came with them.

As wonderful as the appetizers were, the star of the show for me was the Seafood Curry. Oh my goodness! The picture doesn't do it justice.

Looking at the picture, it doesn't look like a very professional presentation. Certainly nothing to make you drool. However, it was loaded with seafood: mahi mahi, shrimp, clams, scallops, and mussels surrounding a huge mound of jasmine rice. The spicyness of the curry went very well with the sweetness of the coconut milk. Absolutely delicious and way too much for one serving. I wish I could have taken the leftovers back to the hotel with me but in the Florida heat I didn't want to take a chance with it going bad.

I went to Y&Y years ago when it first opened and wasn't impressed. This trip changed my mind! The seafood curry is definitely on my list for a repeat visit in the future!

Yay, you found my favorite dish the seafood curry! I love it so much, I have the recipe and make it at home. I also had the egg rolls and they were perfect. I was surprised when we were there the place was empty as it really is a hidden treasure! Also I agree with you on the avocado margarita, it is a bit on the bland side. If you want a flavorful one try the jalapeno, hot!

La Hacienda looks like a place I have to try to fit in on my next trip. The fish looks so good and a like a nice margarita!

I wen to Yak & Yeti once and wasn't too thrilled. However that lettuce cups look great. We recently made a recipe for lettuce cups at home and now I am hooked on them and may need to return to Y&Y to try their version.

Thanks for sharing your reviews.

I tried the jalapeno one last year and indeed it was spicy!! I like to try different ones each trip, just for research purposes! :rotfl2:

I liked Y&Y's version more than P.F. Chang's. I wasn't impressed with my first visit to Y&Y either. I had the wok fried green beans and the honey chicken. While the green beans were okay, the honey chicken was very bland. So I'm glad I gave Y&Y a second try!

Thanks for reading!

Day 3 took us to the Cape May Clam Bake Buffet at the Beach Club. No pictures since it was a buffet. To say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. I wasn't impressed with the selections and didn't think for the $50 price tag that there were enough options.

When the best thing on the buffet is their salad I don't think that's a good thing! :)

However, maybe because I don't eat crab legs that made a difference. The only other seafood was breaded cod bites from the kid's section and salmon. I don't think I saw anything else (except for soup). The couple at the table next to ours was going to town on the crab legs. So maybe it's just me! I wouldn't go back. I would rather spend that $50 and get served a meal that I would enjoy.

Because I didn't take pictures at Cape May, I thought I would toss out some pictures of a couple of drinks I enjoyed in the lounge at POR.

Black Cherry Twist:

Black cherry bourban, sprite, sweet & sour. This was my favorite new drink of the trip. I had it at the Sanaa lounge and at another resort lounge but it was best prepared here at POR. (read, more potent). Very good!!

Grand Marnier Splash:

Grand Marnier, orange juice and muddled mint (I think). Not bad. Gave me a healthy dose of oj! I preferred the Black Cherry Splash, though.

When we were at Cape May they had shrimp, two kinds of fish, crab legs and lots of clams.. Not to mention ribs, prime rib and I think chicken! The mash potatoes were the same they have at Chef Mickeys (YUM) I sure hope this hasnt changed we have a ADR in a few weeks..

Now that you mention it, they did have clams. Maybe shrimp but I don't eat shrimp so it didn't register with me. I know the only fish they had was the salmon. It wasn't bad but nothing memorable.

They did have prime rib; but again I wasn't impressed. I don't recall seeing ribs or chicken, though. Yes, they had the mashed potatoes.

It was probably just me. I know many people really like Cape May for dinner. :)

I agree with you 100%! We ate there a few weekends back, and they had only salmon, no other fish, and NO SHRIMP whatsoever even though it was supposedly on the menu. My husband loved it, because he got his fill of crab legs like most other guests, but for me it was a total waste of money.

Both of those drinks look great - and a nice change from the usual Disney World lounge bar offerings :thumbsup2
