I will not be in WDW on check in date

Me either on any apple product. Laptop only. Sigh.
DH and I have two check ins for the week after Thanksgiving. I was able to check in on my iPad for both the studio at VGF, and the 1 bedroom at VWL. So, somehow this is related to my friends and pins.

I am happy I began this tread because I had not entered correct addresses for everyone, and now all is correct. So, they go to the desk, check in with their correct IDs and all is good. :thumbsup2

It’s funny how finicky Disney’s system are - sometimes the browser or device or private/incognito window work… Next time the opposite works 😆. Glad you got it straightened out and wishing you an enjoyable cruise 😁

You have an extra Magic Band? That might solve this problem without talking to anyone. I've had some online check-in glitches, but lead guest Magic Band has always worked for me, except once.

You could also log in a spare device into your MDE, something like an ipad or an old smartphone on the wifi. That would work to unlock the door also.

Many "work arounds" being suggested that are not necessary. Anyone on the reservation can go to the front desk and check in. There will be no problems that you haven't arrived yet. The only warning I provide to friends or family when we have this happen is that if the front desk CM isn't finding the reservation based on their name then to provide the CM the lead guest name. Once they locate it then they can see all guests. That used to be more prevalent in years past but haven't had it happen for quite a long time - maybe a system update for better searching happened a few years ago.

See? This is where my question always comes in. If online check-in is all that matters and if my room is "paid for" in points, why should it matter if i ever show up, much less day 2 or 3 of a, say, 7 day trip? Yet we all know that if someone doesn't open that room door on day one, it is subject to be taken away without any notice as if you're never coming. That is ridiculous. Especially if they're not refunding the money (points). I don't see how they have any right to do anything with that room until the expiration of the rental. To the OP's point, it shouldn't matter if nobody gets there until the second day.

Y'all are talking about it's all good so long as somebody 18+ "checks in" on day one. There is no check-in if you do online check-in. You just go to the room!

Now tell me why I'm wrong.

I agree that it is a ridiculous rule. The entire stay is paid for, they won't refund any points at all. It's your room whether you show up or not.

You could change someone else to lead guest, you just do this on chat, if you're concerned. Honestly, this might be what I do. Disney IT and you being on a boat is a scary combo to me.

I'll just add that there have been a few times that when I've updated the names of people in our room I've been moved off as lead guest. 95% of the time I'm the first to arrive or I'll do the online check in and it hasn't mattered if I'm lead or not. Or might have placed my my alternate profile on my sisters room to be able to access it and she's been the lead guest, myself an additional and I've been able to check in and check on room readiness or location at the desk. So in my experience there's nothing to be concerned about.

Would this affect the reservation number?

No. Just put all the guests on the reservation and ask them to change X into lead guest on chat. That person would have to pony up a credit card to check in, like any hotel check in. That person would have to manage it on their MDE and match up all the people.

Ideally, it would all work on MDE and no big deal. But this is Disney IT, and you're on a boat.

Ok…thanks.

And, because Disney IT is in Oppositeland, on one of our early stays I was not findable when my cousins got to the gate before we did. I was the booker and the lead guest, but I wasn't on the list. They were. Just not me.
