My friends are going to be there, but I will be on DCL.
Will they be able to check in? I get in the next day.

No one knew if DCL would be sailing so it’s now that I know I will not be there for check in date. Is there anything I need to do for my friends?

Wouldn’t online checkin prevent almost all issues? There’s typically no need to even go to the front desk unless the magic bands or phone don’t work.
I would need to put in a PIN for each
Friend.

See? This is where my question always comes in. If online check-in is all that matters and if my room is "paid for" in points, why should it matter if i ever show up, much less day 2 or 3 of a, say, 7 day trip? Yet we all know that if someone doesn't open that room door on day one, it is subject to be taken away without any notice as if you're never coming. That is ridiculous. Especially if they're not refunding the money (points). I don't see how they have any right to do anything with that room until the expiration of the rental. To the OP's point, it shouldn't matter if nobody gets there until the second day.

Y'all are talking about it's all good so long as somebody 18+ "checks in" on day one. There is no check-in if you do online check-in. You just go to the room!

Now tell me why I'm wrong.

Because the rules state that if someone is not checking on time they should notify or it could be deemed a no show?

Of course, as long as someone checks in that day..access the room…not an issue.

Since It requires a simply email or chat or call to note, not seeing it’s a really big deal.

Of course. Some feel it is silly and it may be, but that’s a different issue.

They can set their PIN on their own from MDX ahead of time.
One friend is not computer savvy enough to have a pin, she does not have a MDE account. The others are ok on that score. However, it did not seem that I could put something in for her.

I wanted my friends to have an extra day without me, so someone was always going to be there if I was able to be on the cruise.

When I tried to check in on line…the hotel charges area would not get past the page where a pin is needed. It indicated OK for everyone except my one friend who does not have a MDE account. My other friends have all been with me before. This is first time for Barbara.

It didn’t require me to give everyone a pin my last trip. None had MDE before the trip. It just assigned mine to all..which of course, they didn’t have or use.

Since you are the lead guest you’ll most likely get the room ready text. I don’t know where you are cruising but my last several cruises have been in Europe & access to WiFI/data was limited (or I was tech challenged) so you may miss the text and/or not be able to forward the villa # to them, which is NBD, they can just swing by the front desk to learn the villa #.

If you are worried about it, I would contact the resort and let them know the situation. If they have it noted on the system, then your friends should have no problems checking in, especially if they are already on the reservation.

Make sure the charging with the pins is sorted out too. We went with friends who set up pins on their own MDE and added their debit card to set it up. Somehow when doing online check in our pins on our magic bands got associated with their debit card. They never used their magic bands to charge the whole trip, meanwhile my husband was paying everywhere with his. My friend texted me a week later that he thought his bank account had been hacked and called Disney and his bank. He was almost at the point of changing his account. He then texted me if it was a possibility that our charges ended up on his account. Sure enough that’s what happened after I checked and our CC was never billed for the time there.

It just does not let me get beyond the “pin” section. Mine is definitely on file. I don’t understand how others here don’t need a pin for everyone!

Just call them and let them know you won't be in that day.

Maybe call tomorrow. PINs are for charging, not for checking in.
Or just have them do plain old checkin when they get there.

I think if you do the online check in on a the Disney website (not app) it will allow you to create a pin for them. I had to do this for my son’s GF who is coming on a trip with us.

I have always been dealing with MDE website. I cleared cookies, it still doesn’t let me check in now.
