last year there were some great deals for trials of magazines for $2. I bought a few.

Apparently, they auto renew you with no notice and they charge you outrageous prices for the magazines. This was my billing so far,

DATE AMOUNT PRODUCT STATUS
02/06/12 $51.00 TIME Complete
02/03/12 $30.00 Lucky Complete

I did manage to catch them immediately and cancel.

I would have been charged these tomorrow but while catching the TIME mag charge I was able to get the website to see my account. www.magcustomerservice.com

FUTURE BILLING - next 30 days
DATE AMOUNT PRODUCT STATUS
02/08/12 $57.00 Entertainment Weekly Scheduled
02/08/12 $62.00 OK! Magazine Scheduled
02/08/12 $42.00 Reader's Digest Scheduled
02/08/12 $32.00 Real Simple Scheduled

If you think you bought anything through them, I think the link was on here, then I would check it out and see what you will be billed. Those are outrageous and crazy one year subscription prices. I'm afraid to think of all the people who don't check their CC statements and just pay these prices.

I've received many free magazines with them. I've always checked "no auto renew".

If there was an "no auto renew" i would have checked it. I do with my Amazon account. I can see an auto renew but the prices they renew at are outrageous. Buying from the publisher is less than half the price they charge.

Same here... I always make sure I check that box!

ditto. It isn't always easy to find, but they have to have that option somewhere. We always have a few cheap/free magazine subscriptions coming to us.

I never give out CC when subscribing to free mags. Maybe because I wasn't going thru amazon?

One way to prevent the auto-renew is to use a prepaid CC for these types of offers. Always make sure there are only small amounts on it and then if you forget to cancel, it won't go through.
