So, today at school we needed to get our hepititis B shots. Well, they poked me in the arm I don't write with (my left) and guess what? They hit a blood vessel or something, so they didn't inject anything and I has left with pain for ten minutes until the nurse filled out a paper and I'm sitting there in the foyer, with everyone else who already got their shot waiting for me, squeezing the heart stress ball the nurse had. I finally get my shot in my right arm this time, and head up backstairs. My friend Nicole, was looking pale and she said she didn't feel well so the teacher told her to put her head down.

One minute later, she faints. The teacher caught her off her chair just before she hit the floor. She'd been thinking about the shot and how her brother fainted when he got the shot. We called the nurses upstairs and gave her some water to drink before it happened. :guilty: Tough day..

I will never trust anyone with a needle again. Never.
Until the stupid spring meningitis shots anyways.

OoOo Sounds like it hurt!!

Wow Nicky fainted ( i call my friend nicky too! ) I would of probally fainted too. I feel sick when somebody barfs! :sad2: lol

1. If the needle had punctured my vein I could have died.
2. If my friend hit the floor when she fainted she could have had a concusion.

So yes it is a big deal. Not the actual shot but the fact that my friend or I could have gotten seriously hurt. Was I obbsessing over the shot? No. I was talking over what happened after and during it. if you don't have anything good to say don't say it.

I'm squemish too. I know that if I become a doctor, I'd either A) take out the wrong kidney or B) throw up in someones lung.

They actually gave you Hepatitis shots at school? I had to go to an actual doctor's office to get mine. I wouldn't trust a school nurse or any doctors who come to a school to be administering shots like that.

Yup, they had a few nurses and a doctor (not from our school, from the local hospital) there with equiqment and they set up a clinic in the foyer. We needed to fill out this form and answer some quick questions like how were you feeling.

Omg Em.. ( Yes im calling you em now instead of milkabum ;) ) And the person who said get over it... PFFT You try almost hitting a blood vessel and dying :) And if my best friend fainted, id be awfly scared so.. PFFT To You.. PFFT :)

My veins roll. So when I get blood taken, the nurse basically has to dig around until she finds the right spot.

As if that is not bad enough, my veins also collapse. If it happens while blood is being taken, the nurse has to AGAIN, dig around in my arm with the needle.

What a fun process

Just wondering if your parents had to sign a form giving your school permission to administer shots to you? I would not allow my child's school to give any shots 1. without it being her own doctor, and 2. without my permission. JMO~

I know exactly how you feel Em, (he he my best friends name is Emily) I am squemish too! See I am super squemish so like if we are talking about like your inside's, blood, etc, or the sight of seeing my blood, makes me faint everytime. It got so bad, when we we're talking about that stuff in science I had to go to the nurse's office and sit there until class was over.

Just wait till you get polio boosters. You have to get a tetanus shot right after it so you don't get deadly sick.

Of course! My school board gave out special yellow sheets with a form at the bottom which all parents/guardians have to sign with medical information. They were all certified nurses who were giving the shots.
