it is normal that is is forbidden that more than five people wait for the bathroom?

This week we flew across the ocean and the plane was almost full.
There were plus/minus three hundred people on board. As AB joint a group of American airlines obviously other rules now apply.

On of those rules was that due to American anti terrorist rules it was absolute forbidden that people would form a group during the flight and not more than five people wait by two toilets.

I do understand this but it was kind of hard to get a place in the row. Maybe they could give out numbers and fast passes :rotfl:

I've seen them say no more than 1 at the restroom in the front. On international, they are strict about using the restroom in your section, no sneaking into first class.

You are always supposed to use the restroom in your class. Sometimes this is enforced, sometimes it isn't, on both international and domestic flights.

I have flown internationally many, many times and have never heard anything about a rule about 5 people or less waiting for a restroom due to anti-terrorist rules.

Usually the FAs do discourage a big crowd of people congregating around the restrooms, but sometimes they don't say anything.

I have no idea what this means.

Yes, they make the announcement that the front lav is for first class but envitiably people in the first rows of coach wander on up. It's very rare for a FA to say anything. I just got off a flight ATL-PIT, it wasn't an issue because the front lav was closed! I noticed a big tape across it when I got on (it was a DC9 so it was between the boarding door and first class). I was glad they did not delay the flight because of it, I checked seat guru and there are 2 in the back plus it's only an hour flight.

On Lufthansa I heard them announce no more than 5 (or maybe it was 6) people can wait for the downstairs coach bathroom. This was due to the number of oxygen masks within close proximity to the bathroom. Depending on the plane layout this may be the reason.
