I was told that DVC was the worst timeshare.

I look at it like buying a car. some people like car "A", some do not. If we all liked and agreed the same way, everyone would have the same stuff.

to each his own...

We like and see the value in DVC

:thumbsup2
well said..alot of people wouldn't want my cheap little paid off Focus. I do :)

When I hear someone say something is "The Best" or "The Worst" I immediately ignore that person and what they say.

Nothing is "The Best" or "The Worst".

If they said that it was "The Best" or "The Worst" for them, or even for you, then I can work with that. I can listen to their reasons, and understand why they have that opinion.

Some people are way too quick to tell others what is right or wrong for them. Usually they do so, without even knowing the other person well.

I think life is too short to spend any time worrying about what someone like that says.

Yep....Other vacation time shares remind me of a Loft apartment over a big party.

Them

Just Sayin Folks!
do you have any actual experience with other timeshares. Other than location, DVC is upper middle of the pack in many ways.

:) DH and I paid big bucks for our AKV points. We have moved from Pop to a studio--and can get studios for other family members as a treat. We do not have kids so a stucio works. We have our own fridge and a covered seated area to wait for the bus. We got what we paid for and more.

My DVC has changed my Disney trips like a Corvette would change my drive to work. It allows me to experience my vacation destination in a manner that is refreshing and upscale in a way that a nurse and fireman can afford it--nothing more. Even being 2 feet off property is off property to me and would never work based on how I want to travel to Disney.

It is like alot of things....we owned flood insurance before Katrina...now we have a rider for Earthquakes and Volcanos. You kinda get what you pay for if you look at things in a certain light.....so I frequesntly use my rose colored glasses when thinking about my Disney trips and then take a sip of Kool aid.

Bingo! You just nailed us. To hear all those folks that talk about studios being where the "best" value is makes no sense to us.But I understand, everyone looks at "value" and "best" through their own eyes. Therefore, I just try to enjoy DVC and not overthink it. It can drive me crazy to disect DVC too much. But, once again I know others enjoy it and I can say that at times I am very impressed with their analysis.:goodvibes

For some people vacations are a luxury, for us that is not the case. We both work in very demanding jobs and if we do not get some downtime it hurts our productivity.

The value in the DVC membership for us is to prevent diminishing returns at work and in order to do that we need to feel like we are on vacation from the moment we arrive. That doesn't happen when I step into a studio because it is too much like a hotel room that I might use for business.

The other value for us in owning is the experience factor. Because we have been there so much it has become more and more like being in a home away from home. Through trial and error we have learned even the little things like which kind of meals to prepare using that particular kitchen and the cookware and utensils provided. We have stocked our OL with kitchen things we prefer to use more. But what has happened is we go from home where we have a home/work routine to a DVC property where we can immediately start our home/vacation routine. The moment we arrive we know exactly what to do. Water and other drinks are always placed on the counter in the kitchen closest to the table area. We don't plan that but it always the way it happens now. We always buy the same core groceries with a few changes depending on the weather. Clothes are always in the same drawers. Not to mention that you don't need even need to think about how to get from point A to B transportation wise or where the rides are at the Parks. You even have your favorite spots for parades and fireworks. All of the enjoyment without having to miss any beats.

You may feel it from the first visit but after enough time there and your routine starts it really is like being home and your home is at Disney. How great is that?

Remeber, this is MY opinion. To you, DVC timeshare ranks in the middle. That is your opinion and you are entitled to that.

To answer your question, Yes. I have experienced other timeshares through renting with various people and My family have had 2 different timeshares throughout my couple of years vacationing. No, I have not owned any other timeshare than DVC because it appealed to my family the most.

We are big on family time and vacations and are not afraid to spend generously to make lasting memories.

Sorry if I have offended. It was a joke.

No offense taken, just that looked at objectively, other than location, DVC is just another good timeshares of which there are many. Of course there are motel 6 timeshares as well. From a resort standpoint, DVC is likely near the bottom of the timeshare I routinely stay at (Marriott, Bluegreen, Hilton, Westin). There is a fair amount of at least semiobjective data to compare them.
