My daughter went to school as a 4th grader this morning.

She just headed to after school care as a 5th grader a few minutes ago.

I admittedly teared up. How do kids grow up so fast? :confused3

Sheesh, at this time next year I'm going to have a middle schooler. :scared1:

Tell me about it .... the TODDLER I raised, and the baby in the middle of my siggie, starts college in 2012.... it was a MINUTE ago that I cried walking away from his kindergarten class. No, a SECOND AGO.

 I know the feeling, my kids go back to school July 25th as 3rd grader & 1st grader.

What happen to my baby boys? To my toddler boys? To my little guys?:confused3

They are just plain old good "boys" nowadays.

awee I hear you.. I opened a letter from school today with all the details for my oldest sons high school graduation and I teared up.

I'm tearing up just reading here! :rotfl:

Mine moves up to Middle School officially tomorrow. I've got to make it through the slide show.....

I started crying when DS8 finished this 3rd year. I was standing in hall telling his teachers how much I appreciated all their hardwork etc etc and he was hugging them goodbye and one of them put her hands on both sides of his face, looked deep into his eyes and told him that he was a joy to teach , how much she enjoyed getting to know him and she was looking forward to watching him grow the next two years. I started crying , then she started too LOL. I wish I could stop time for just a little while and it is so sweet to see a teacher that loves her students so much and puts so much effort into her job. WOW, I am such a sap and apparently his teacher is too. :rotfl:

I hear you, our oldest just finished his freshman year in college, we just had our marching band meeting and the twins stood up at JUNIORS :scared1:.

Every year my boys move to another grade I go through that....one will be a senior and we are planning out his colleges...was he not like a kindergartener like last year...sure seems like it...my other one will be a sophomore ...I hate how fast they grow up....:sad1:

Oh please!
My 5th grader came out of the building with her class for Field Day a couple of weeks ago and I started bawling thinking that it was her last Field Day in elementary school.

I watched the K class do their show(I work at the school, I wasn't some weirdo who comes to events when I don't have kids there LOL) and I looked at my DD(who was helping by handing out the programs to parents) and I started crying because I swear I remember her K show like it was yesterday and she's off to Middle School in the fall. Middle School! What?

She just shakes her head and laughs at me. LOL

Oh dear...you sound like me. I was writing out a few thank you cards for my younger kid's teachers, and as I was writing to one of them, I started tearing up. Two of my kids had those once in a lifetime, loves-their-job-and -the -kids type teachers....and I will really and truly miss them. All the teachers at our school have been great, but these two were something truly special. I know the kids will see them again (dd's 1st grade teacher actually wrote a letter to her and gave her her address so they can correspond). My eldest got into the car the last day and said "Hey mom...I'm an UPPER CLASSMAN now!". He's going into junior year. DS10 is entering 5th grade, DD7 is on to 2nd, DS6 is on to 1st. I still have DS4 for one more year. I shudder to think what kind of blubbering mess I will be the day he starts kindergarden.

Sure wish we could slow down time. It does make for a good excuse to not skip a vacation, soon they won't want to go with us, lol.

Aw man do I feel you!

My DD is going into middle school next year. DH and I were just talking a few minutes ago about how quickly she grew up! Seems like just yesterday I was taking her to Kindergarten and crying walking out the door!

She had one of those once in a lifetime teachers for the past two years and part time for the year before that. He is an AMAZING teacher and an all around good soul. She and I BOTH sobbed like babies the day of her 5th grade graduation, knowing she wouldn't be with him next year!

Just wait until she graduates from high school.

And then goes off to college.

And then gets married.

And then has her first child.

And then.....

Thanks!

In the hospital after my daughter was born I got all emotional thinking my husband would have a daughter to walk down the aisle. I guess it was the hormones. ;)

Big hugs for all of us. :grouphug:

I just know I'm going to be that blubbering parent on Friday too. My DS is 10 and finishing up 4th grade. They start middle school at 5th grade here so he will be going to a new school in the fall. It's so bittersweet. I'm so happy to see him growing up and going on to new things, but I miss my little baby. They had a slideshow for parents to watch last week and I was getting emotional watching that. I just hope I can hold it together on Friday.

I think I'll need a roll of paper towels for DD's convocation & her graduation (blubber).

agnes!

Why did I read this thread??? :rotfl2: I'm going to be a mess at kindergarten graduation on Sunday, because it's my baby up there! I love who he is becoming, but I do miss who he was. I'm off to Costco's to get me some tissues- I need to stock up!

This thread hits home today. We attended my son's 6th grade graduation from my old school this morning. I am sitting in the audience proudly watching my son when it hit me, out of no where! That's my "baby". What happened?? Seems like I had just put him down for a midnight feeding and woke up and he's already 12 1/2.

Our youngest starts her SENIOR year of COLLEGE in a few months! Seems like it was just yesterday that I was posting about her going off to college.

I won't even mention how old our oldest is!
