I was seaching for Disney wait times and found this YIKES !!

That's nothing. New Year's Eve of the Millennium Celebration (December 31, 1999) saw wait times hit 7 hours for Test Track. People were waiting for 2 hours just to get a burger from the Liberty Inn. By shortly after noon, about half of the promenade in World Showcase was filled with people waiting to watch the fireworks at midnight.

Back in the summer of 2001 (not any special holiday or anything, just a regular summer day), USF was so packed that Earthquake had a 3 hour wait ... and we were the shortest wait in the park.

Y2K NYE at IoA was horrible. We had to get stanchions and rope to build a "queue" in the JP Discovery Center just so people could see the raptor hatchings. That was the first time I'd ever seen the full extended queue at Spiderman and Dueling Dragons get used. I think we measured the one at Dragons as a mile long while we were stringing it (before part of it was taken out to build Flying Unicorn/Hippogriff).

It's like this every year. It's the busiest two weeks of year for Disney.

Yet there are there are still a lot of people who think that everyone stays home and no one goes there for the holidays.

I correct them when they say that to me.

I would still choose this over Times Square if I ever do lose my mind and decide to do some type of crazy NYE celebration. At least there are things to do if you choose to and it't can't be as crowded or crazy. At the very least you can easily go to the bathroom without losing your spot.

Crazy! My niece got married in Clearwater on June 3, so we stopped by my happy place for New Years Eve and New Years Day only since we were in the area (and that is all the time we had). We picked two parks since we knew park hopping would be pointless with possible park closures. The two parks we decided on were MK and HS, because we had never seen the parks at Christmas and they sounded the most festive on our travel dates. After researching we went to HS for New Years Eve and MK for New Years Day. Boy am I glad we did. The crowds were not too bad and we got to do everything we wanted. It was actually a lot of fun. I heard the other parks were crazy. Thank you Josh from wdweasy for the park recommendations ;) Whew!! That looks too crowded for even me (a teacher who can only travel during busy times).

We were there this year for NYE, in fact drove all the way down just for it. Crazy busy, and one of the best trips we've ever had! FP+ worked like a charm for us, even in the busiest of times. If a line says 5 hours, I don't get in it.

Wow its good to hear that some people still had fun during this time. I think I would gotten Claustrophobic :rotfl:
