I was robbed NEED VMK STAFF!!

This is a list of the items that were taken from me, they were taken by the player <name removed> and a guest<name removed> has the guests ID number. What happened is this the player <name removed> told me he had inferno which he did and showed it to me. I traded too windows of stuff I trusted him bc he was just as worried about getting cheaped. When he said trade the third time and we would finish he asked me to get ice from my room and said he would follow. When I arrived at my room I became aware that <name removed> was not on my friends list anymore.

You need to send a message through the "contact us" link on the home page and also if you are still in the game you can try to send a help message in the game

unfortunately- you may not get your items back- because you have to hit accept two times before the trade goes through- you did accept to give these things to this person

yes I know he was supposed to give the inferno in return- but he may be slipping through a loop hole because of that

This is the most common scam and you hear it more and more- so much so that I say- if you are trading big- only trade with those you know- or get a community leader to act as a go between for the trade- that way you both trade your items to the community leader and then they trade the items to the other people...

Sorry you were scammed- but you won't get staff here on DIS- VMK staff does sometimes read the board but they aren't here routinely-

You may also want to edit your orginal post to remove the person's name- since it is against DIS board policies to reveal the person's name- but feel free to share it to others who ask in pm's...

I am so sorry this happened to you. This is happening over and over with trades involving more than one trade window. My suggestion would be to use someone both traders trust to help with the trade and avoid this type of scam.

You need to go to www.vmk.com and use the 'contact us' option to give all this information to the VMK Staff.

Oh wolf! I'm sure many will tell you this but copy this post in a message to WebmasterKelsie. This guy was on my friends list for awhile but started coming on really strong for my inferno and I deleted him. Someone on vmk forums said he tried to scam them out of inferno by trying to get him to accept stitch after inferno trade. Try to connect with SpottedDog (the person who nearly got scammed) if you can, you may be able to team up and both relay your experiences to staff/mods.

Thanks jules im trying to get friends to help catch these two and get my stuff back. I am still keeping my rooms open I have some stuff left like gold, rare and a little pirate quest. I have always been a skilled trader so its just a matter of time before I trade for all my stuff back. But I still want to bring these two down and thank you everyone for your support of me.

I am sorry to hear this has happened to you.

In the short time I have been in VMK, I have learned the three most important things are:

1. Do not discuss anything about personal life, including other on-line screen names (AIM, YIM, etc...)

2. Always use a CL or Staff person to help with a trade that is more than one window (worked beautifully the one time I tried it)

3. Remember, this is about having fun!

I hope you are able to still do number three, as that is what it really is about.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. This is a scam happening frequently. My son was almost scammed the other night. I was not home, but I called for the help of Flyingpegasus. She send out invites to other DIS to come witness the trade. My son and another trader had agreed to a trade. It would have required several trade windows. I told my son on the phone to use a trade mediator but he didn't know what I meant. So I told him not to trade anything until the inferno was traded with it. He asked this person to put inferno in the trade window. This person said she couldn't. So my son backed out of the trade. Fly and CDNMickey told him that was probably the best decision, since he didn't know this person.

A couple weeks ago, VMK_lolo was in my son's trade room. She held a little question/answer session in there. Someone was saying they got scammed. She said that since they now have that window that says you are agreeing to give the items as a gift that VMK staff is no longer responsible. And in fact, you are agreeing to give that as a gift.

I personally think that is not a good thing. If that's the case, it opens the gateway for scams.

I hope you are able to get this resolved. Please let us know how it turns out.

because earlyer i saw a guest that said he had it and really didn't and i reported him.

i am really srry this happened i know how it feels to get scammed also and it stink really bad
especially with all those rare items

The names were removed because posting of names of scammers is against DIS board policy for a load of reasons.


One being we have no way to verify that a person was indeed scammed, anyone with a grudge to bear against someone could come here and post a name and say they scammed you.


I am sorry this happened to you and I do hope VMK can get your stuff back or will help.

Never accept the trade untill the other person accepts first. You can get seriously scammed. If they dont show the thing ur trading for , they probally dont have it .So if that happens, adn they ask u to accept first , DONT .Ive had this happen wit a backwards baseBALL cap right after they started selling it .I got so angry. But look u cant take out all of your anger on the members of the dis boards , yes i know u need some one to help you but u need to contact staff at vmk i see staff some times at snow white hide and seek forest and main streen also town square so try to meet them there. im sorry this happened to u

That's the problem with having a limited trade window for a maximum of
15 items. When Tink mentioed a "mediator" to her son, she meant that
a trusted third person could act as a "go between" for the traders.

I would ask a Community Leader if they would agree to hold the item
from one player (for example, Inferno) and also the items from the second
player. Do it in small bunches, so everyone can keep a count of the
trade.

Player 1 gives Inferno to CL.
Player 2 gives a few items at a time to CL.
CL trades the promised items to player 1, until that trade is complete.
Then the CL will trade Player 2 the Inferno pin after player 1 gets all the stuff.

If you know a CL willing to do this, and if you know they are an adult, you
are very unlikely to get scammed.

ty everyone i do know some leaders and i have lots of trustworthy friends. I was an idiot giving free stuff like that. But I was desperate for inferno. P.S. im posting using a PSP so it took a while.

I am so sorry that this happened to you. Inferno is a great temptation. Please remember that "If it seems too good, it probably is"

If someone says they can give you inferno in your account - run away and report them. It is a scam.

If someone asks to borrow something - JUST SAY NO

If someone wants more than 15 items, tell them No

It really makes me very SAD that people would exploit kids on a Disney site. Shame, Shame, Shame!!!!

I got scaammed earlier a few weeks ago. And it was someone that made a new file on dis, they said they would trade there inferno for my offer but then they only had 0 posts i told them to meet me in the room. IT took quit a while i think they have double files and they were trading it over. SO they came into my room and then they said ok everything in here for it. I took it all away i ended up loosing alot of rare like these....

Im surprised it happened to my best friends, Alphawazup , Wolf and me. very strange.
