I was regifted today!!

I have regifted and I don't mind being regifted either, but in both cases, the item needs to be new.

I totally agree, as long as its new now one will know the difference.

Just a reminder please don't regift a gift to the oringinal giver:rolleyes1

I regift gift cards to stores that I don't shop at, but never a used GC, thats funny.

You are so right. Some of the parents would be mortified at some of the things I have heard.

My DD is a storyteller. Not a liar but rather loves to tell stories about all the things we do and places we go. She just sometimes mixes up the facts or condenses them down to one event. One of DDs teachers in PreK promised if we would think about 1/2 of what DD told us at home about what happens at school was totally accurate she would only believe about 1/2 about what DD told her at school was totally accurate! :lmao:

I was regifted after my mom passed away - by my own Aunt! Somebody had given her some small trinket angel type pin when my mom died with some saying on the front about how to pin this and remember your loved one etc. On the back in pen in the upper left hand corner it said " To: Mary" On the bottom right - again in pen it had "From Cecelia"

Well I got it and she had tried to erase the TO next to Mary and wrote FROM over it and where it said "From Cecelia" she tried to erase that and wrote "To Mom2Nick". First off I could clearly see the changes and second who writes who it is from first then in the bottom lists who it is going to?

If it had been anything else for any other reason I would have laughed but I honestly was just hurt.

Ooops did that one! Tried to play it off as I loved mine so much I bought you one just like it! Not so good.

The worst re-gift I received would have to be the christmas tree ornament bear I recieved with a broken arm and the piano music box in an OBVIOUSLY use box that didn't play. I was a first year music teacher at the time and just smiled and graciously said thank you. I was told by the other teachers to just be thankful I didn't get the cookies from this family! :rotfl:

This is not a Christmas re-gift story... well it's not really a re-gift story either, but it's something kind of like it.

I had given my DB & DSIL one of those Activity Kickers along with alot of other things for their baby shower. They were living with me at the time and about a week after the shower they started separating the things that would be returned and things they would keep. One of the things in the "to be returned" pile was my Activity Kicker.

After I gave them a word of two, the kicker was moved to the 'right' pile. :lmao:

My grandparent had this HUGE bible ( think 11 x 17 and at least 30 pounds!) It sat in my grandparents living room for at least 40 years. When we were cleaning the house to sell it after they died no one wanted to take the bible but no one wanted to be the one to get rid of it because they knew that our grandparents would come pack and haunt whoever did:rotfl2: It was "placed" in 7 cars before my dad finally took it. he had it for a few months and one day at a party,he put it one of my cousins car.. he drove away, not knowing it was there... was on our steps that night...my dad gifted it to his sister...who gifted it to my sister, who gifted it to our another cousin...
so the bible has been re gifted many many times...We finally had the great grand kids give it to my uncle for his 60th party... he laughed so hard he cried....

In the first year that DH and I were married, we went to a Christmas party with a naughty santa gift exchange. I bought two gift cards to the bookstore. I got (in return) an opened catheter bag and a tube of KY jelly.

I don't remember ever feeling so awful about a Santa gift.

:scared1: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I totally just outed myself as being part of the "working, but not working" crowd here at the office!

That is really funny!

I don't really regift.. I would give the giftcard or present away but only as an "additional" gift..

If it was a giftcard, for example, and I didn't want it and thought someone else could use it.. I would give it to a friend explaining that to them.. but also buy/make them a real gift in addition

Totally ot but.....when DD was in daycare they did show 'n tell once a week. It stopped after Vinnie brought in a beer koozie and said it was what Daddy used to hide his beer when he was driving. :scared1:

Vinnies dad got a BIG talking to!!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Wasn't for Christmas, but for our wedding someone gave us a toaster and put a note on the inside of the box that said "From our wedding to yours" LOL

I opened Jimmy's & Jonny's (they're a set of twins in my room) & thanked them for the Starbuck's gift card, which, btw, does not have a dollar amount listed anywhere.

Jimmy: "That was a birthday gift to my mom that she didn't want. She didn't know what to get you, so she gave it to you".

any chance Mom doesn't know she regifted:confused3 maybe the twins helped themselves to her DD giftcard:rotfl2:

That's what I was thinking...right now their mom is thinking of a trip to Starbucks, and is looking for her giftcard....

My mom opened her gift from my MIL today. There were several little things in there. One was a tube of Avon hand cream. I watched my MIL open that gift from one of her Sunday School students a few days ago :lmao: It makes me wonder where she got the other things in my Mom's gift....especially since I heard my FIL ask her last night if she had anything for my mom and she said, "Not yet." Seems she went shopping in her own gifts!!! Actually, I'm fine with re-gifting. Not USED items though!

The worst gift at dirty santa exchange was a baby food jar filled with urine in a brown paper bag!!! EEEKK! That was the last year our company had a holiday party.
