I want to share my excitement, and I have a question:)

I have been to WDW many many times, but I haven't been without my children since 1995. This year is my husband and I's 10year wedding anniversary and we have successfully convinced his sister to spend a week with out kids so we can go back alone!!!

Thats my excitement, may be lame, but with a 10,7 and 5yo vacations alone don't come easy.
So here comes the question part. I want to do something special for my husband. Unfortunately we have spent so many years doing kid stuff that I have no idea what to do.
We've done the specialized cake thing to death, and honestly I bet he expects me to do that. So I want to one up him

I have heard that Yachtsman Steakhouse does the menus with an announcement on them. this has intrigued me. I don't know that we want to eat there this time around, does anyone know of another restaurant that does this? I'd like all my options.


I'd also love some ideas of other special things to do. Any suggestions are welcome.

I could offer you several thousand ideas but decided on a few. The segway tour in Epcot is absolutely fabulous. This is something I personally LOVE LOVE LOVE doing. Horse Drawn Carriage rides at Port Orleans Riverside are a treat. Bring a bottle of wine, an opener and a couple plastic cups and have a ball. . .very romantic. Any of the many Disney tours would be awesome. . .keys to the kingdom is really special. Fireworks cruises, the fireworks dessert party at Magic Kingdom, a surrey bike ride, etc. . .all of these things fall under the category of special.

Victoria and Albert's is the ultimate in dining. I would suggest dinner at Citricos over Yachtsman. Nicer atmosphere and they will personalize the menu too. Our personal favorites are Bluezoo and Il Mulino. They are not on the dining plan, but do take TIW.

I have friends that have done the Wishes cruise and absolutely loved it. If you still want to do a custom cake, you could have it delivered to the boat for the cruise. (That's what they had done.) I've never done it (hopefully, some day) - but they said it was very, very special.

I haven't done this yet either, but I've heard sitting on the beach at the Poly and watching Wishes is spectacular, too. (They pipe in the music.) It'd be a great way to watch such a pretty firework show without the masses of people around - if you aren't interested in doing the cruise.

You could schedule a dinner at the Poly, or one of the other monorail resorts, and then head to the Poly afterwards to relax on the beach for the show.

What about a couple's massage at one of the spas? I'm sure that's not something that you get to go do together with kiddos around all of the time.

I would def suggest the fireworks cruise! As far as dinner, I love the California Grill or the Brown Derby... Have fun, and congrats!!

So not lame! My husband & I are going by ourselves and leaving our (then) 12 and 7 year old with their grandparents. Our situtation is slightly different then yours in that it will only be our 2nd time there. So we have plenty to do that we were not able to do with our kids around the first time.

I second Nurse Darcy! Last/first trip I surprised my husband/family with La Nouba tickets. They had no clue until we walked right in.

This time I am surprising my husband with the Epcot Segway Tour. Again, although he knows I am planning something, he will not find out until we arrive in Epcot that morning.

I keep debating over the fireworks dessert party as well.

I can hardly wait and we still have just over 7 months to go!

I was going to suggest the California Grill as well. If you choose a seating which corresponds with Wishes, the California Grill also pipes in the music. That sounds like an amazing way to celebrate to me. Not to mention, the CA Grill is awesome! OH, and you can also step out onto the rooftop to watch Wishes. I did that years ago with my family when I was still in grade school. It was amazing to see!
