A good New Years Eve that is. Not that the previous ones were bad, just rather uneventful.

I've never gone out and partied on New Years. Ever. I don't drink and neither DH nor I are much into dancing anymore so I don't know what to do that night.

I always see people on t.v. having a blast and partying until the wee hours and I wonder is that what every one else does? :confused3 Am I the only one missing out? What are your plans this New Years? I need some good ideas.

If you get any ideas, I'll be glad to read them. I was starting to think we were the most dull people on earth! We stay up until midnight just to see the new year, and then we're off to sleep. :rotfl:

We've gone out on New Year's Eve but to me it isn't all that exciting. The most fun we've had is getting a group of friends together at someone's home where everyone can spend the night and playing games, eating treats and yes, drinking to our heart's content.

Well, at least I'm not totally alone.

Our ritual is usually the same. We order takeout, get a bunch of movies, watch the ball drop while we drown each other in confetti and the kids have fun with the noisemakers. Then off to bed, and in the morning I get to spend two hours vacuuming up the confetti that is covering every inch of the living room. The funny thing is with all the leftover food containers and noisemakers and confetti everywhere, it looks like there was a wild party the night before! :rotfl:

I'm not sure those folks are having as much fun as it appears. :teeth: I don't know--since I've been in my mid-20's, ringing in the New Year with a hangover just doesn't appeal to me.

When I was young, my parents always had great New Year's Eve parties for us. They'd make all sorts of appetizers--fondue, shrimp, just tons of food. They'd have champagne and we'd have apple juice or Sprite and we'd all stay up and watch the ball fall in Times Square. It was so fun that even when I was a teenager, I'd opt to stay home and many of my friends enjoyed it so much that after I had moved out of state--they'd call my parents and ask if they could come over. :teeth:

Add us to the group of "boring partiers"!! ;)

We don't usually do anything, but we both like to bowl and are on two leagues...so we are going bowling on New Year's Eve! :teeth: The bowling alley is having a celebration, and we'll pay one price to bowl for the whole evening...

I know...just OH SO EXCITING!!! :rotfl2:

Sounds like you are having a lot more fun than we are. I only see the ball drop if I happen to wake up at 12 and the tv is still on. We used to stay up and have a romantic evening with champagne and take-out. I even have champagne corks saved with each new year written on them. But the kids wake up at the same time every morning, no matter how late we stay up.

We do the carbonated grape juice (in the bottle that looks like champagne) and watch movies to see the new year in. Sometimes we have a gathering at church, but I really like just being at home on NYE. Last year, DD and her BF watched a 3 Stooges marathon (so not everybody gets out and parties).

DH and I always go out, but it's usually just dinner and a movie. Then we come home and watch the ball drop. New Year's Eve is our anniversary, so we'll always have to celebrate in some way. I wish every year could be like last year's for us. We celebrated 10 years at the Magic Kingdom...without the kids.

My husband works every NYE as he runs a restaurant. My daughter who is 5, and I stay at home and watch a movie. Hubby tries to get home in time to see the ball drop some years he makes it some years not.

New Years Eve and an anniversary without the kids at WDW?!! Now that's my kind of celebrating. How fun!! :sunny:

I never do anything exciting...sometimes a group of us will just get together for dinner and movies, but thats it..
last year i sat home and watched dvds i wanted to watch.
this year, iv egotten asked to babysit a ton of times, but i think ill just sith ome and watch dvds again!

I am always so paranoid when we do go out on New Years Eve about drunk drivers (no, we don't drink) on the road.

I would much rather stay in and watch the festivities on TV.

We've been hosting a New Year's Eve party for the neighborhood for the past five years or so. Everyone brings an appetizer or dessert and we eat and drink and play lots of games till the wee hours of the morning. (Okay, once we stayed up til almost 1:00.) But we do have a lot of fun playing games (Scene It, Scattergories, Taboo, etc.) and being together. Best part--no one has to risk the roads (everyone lives within walking distance).

I used to go out every year with my friends drinking and dancing and have a grand old time. Then I got old. Dh and I go to DSis's and have a couple drinks and dinner then go home. Last year I woke up at 12:15, rolled over and kissed him and we went back to sleep.

I watch college football, and then I watch more college football. For the past several years I have also had parties for my teenagers and their friends. They eat, shoot firecrackers, eat, play games, eat, and at midnight we open the sparkling grape juice and open party crackers. Last year my daughter's friends all had to be home at 11:30, so we celebrated early!
