I always told my hubby that if he didn't get me a corvette for my 40th birthday then take me on a cruise. Well, I got neither so now I will plan my own.
Realistically how much should I save? I can't decide if I should go full force for the first one and do a 7 day or maybe a land/sea combo. I can't imagine being so close to Disney and not going! LOL

I'm thinking January time frame. Itr would be me and hubby (I guess I'll take him.......)

What would you all recommend for a first timer?
Thanks!!!!

Forgot to add that I don't need a fancy room. Doubt we'll be in it much anyways.

You can get 'off season' prices in later January, so I would suggest going for a 7 day cruise. The Cat. 11 room are fine unless you really want a window, then you will need a Cat. 8 or above.

Go to this website and 'scan' the prices. I haven't booked with them, but I like their website for checking out prices:

If you decide to go on a shorter cruise, try to do the 4 day, the 3 day is just way too short!

Go whole hog and do the 7-day!
The first cruise we took was a 7-day and it set the mood for all our future cruises.
One suggestion I would make, get a porthole room. Although all our subsequent (sp?) cabins have been inside cabins, our first was an oceanview. It helped in us getting up each day for the early morning activities, after spending the previous night involved in the adult activities.
We even got up early enough one time to win the Couch Potato Trivia Contest (a non-DCL function). Got a solid-gold, plastic, ship-on-a-stick for it. Proudly displayed in our home office.

Go for it! We booked our 1st cruise thru All Seasons Travel. We received a good rate. We cruised 1-22-04 & are going again 1-29-05. We did the 7 day, it was great. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
We booked a cat. 6 w/verandah, it was great being able to sit out there whenever we wanted. We were mid-ship near the elevators, did not hear any noise. From disney order the free video of the different cruises, DD's watch it nearly every day & can't wait to get back on the Mickey Boat.

I usually say for a first timer go with a 4 day. (not 3-too short) That way if you really don't like cruising, your not stuck for an entire week.

Also, since you mentioned you couldn't imagine being that close without going to the parks, it's a great compromise.

You will get good prices in Jan compare to the times when the kids are out from school.

BTW.. a minor correction, Cat 9 and above have windows.
