I have THE BUG something awful! Went for 5 wonderful nights (POR with DD..I'm old and she's 20 now. Hadn't been there since '92. Now I can't wait to go back. I think about it almost every day!) Got a postcard in the mail today from Disney-Deluxe Resort for $179 for 2/12 to 4/17. So, I started reading around and found out about the Disney Visa offer which sure beats this. I LOVE this forum. Anyway, my dilemma: DH and I are already booked to fly to Ft. Myers 3/23 for a week in Naples with his family. I don't think he would even consider changing that. But, he is thinking of another week in October with no plans made then. All of you pros...I loved the week in Jan-we were lucky to have wonderful weather and it just wasn't crowded. Waits practically non-existent. One of the tranportation people suggested coming back in October...said weather is still great, and also not crowded then, either. I REALLY need a discount. Can I hope to have one in October? Am I on the right track, or is there another time of year that would be better? I'll worry about where to stay later...POR again? Loved it. Well, I'm going to go start looking around at some of the stuff sitting here for E-bay. I read where other people do it. Sorry for the rambling-I have no excuse!::yes::

Hi Cindy-Indi :p

Yea, it's time for you to go back. I have been in all of the cooler and slower months - Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, and early Feb. I am someone who HATES crowds - (party because I'm claustrophobic, and partly becasue I'm a diva who is appalled at the whole concept of waiting in line princess: ) - and found all of those times to be acceptable. While October was the most crowded of all of them, certainly more crowded than late January, it was very comfortable.

I think the best time to go would be early December. Crowds are very light, and the Christmas displays everywhere are beautiful. The temperature is a little more hit-or-miss, so if you like hot days and water parks, skip December.

I understand that September is not very crowded either, once the kids are back in school - try after the second week. However, it is also still pretty hot, which is big deterrent for me.

If you get a good code, maybe you could consider a deluxe resort - BWI is my personal fave. An Epcot resort would be great with the whole night-life scene at the Boardwalk. If your DD will be 21 by then you would have a blast at Jellyrolls. Then again, you could always take the boat to DD if you return to POR.

Or perhaps consider WL or AKL. I think that even with a discount the deluxe property rates are hard to swallow, but WL and AKL are the best priced of the deluxes. They are a good stepping stone between the mods and the high-priced deluxes.

As for me, I'm trying my first mod (POFQ) this October. Let's see how I handle a resort without room service!

We have been in October and it is a very nice time of year.
Unless you go around Halloween. it is croweded then.

Hi! I'll take Disney any day of the year HOWEVER just want to let you know that I was there for a long weekend over the Columbus Day holiday this October (Oct. 9-13th) and it was PACKED. Try going the very first week of October. (The weekend I went was also a huge media event w/ Official openings for Mission: Space, so that made it "worse")

CINDA,

GOSH, I AM JUST LIKE YOU!!!!! (GLAD TO HEAR I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE) I JUST RETURNED FROM POR ON THE 9TH OF THIS MONTH AND I AM READY TO GO BACK. JUST LAST NIGHT I TRIED TO TALK MY BF INTO GOING BACK IN OCT. OR NOV. (NOT SURE IT WORKED THOUGH) :-(
I AM HOPING FOR GREAT DISCOUNT CODES (OR TO HIT THE LOTTERY) TO COME OUT AND MAYBE JUST MAYBE, HE'LL CHANGE HIS MIND.
SO FOR RIGHT NOW, I AM CONSTANTLY ON THE BOARDS WITH MY FINGERS CROSSED.

LAH

PS. POR WAS WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!

We go alot in the Fall too. I found September to be less crowded that October, but it is hotter (although you can get the heat in October too). We went this February, and it was our best trip yet. We got a really good rate on the AKL and the weather was beautiful.

I suggest trying a different resort. It makes it more fun when you don't repeat the same thing.

We just got back and already I can't wait for our May trip. I get my daily fix on these boards (very addicting:p ).

Good luck.

I have been in October and love it then. But October is regular season, so if you are watching your $$ then you might want to go in value season. September is also really nice (and less crowded) and it is value season. We went last september and liked it so much we are going back again this september.

But October also has the food and wine festival at epcot, which is alot of fun. Either month is great, have fun planning!!
