"I Want To Go Back!!!"....a Sept 2010 PTR(upd 10/12-TR Started!)

Congrats on going back ! Very excited to hear your planning.

We absolutely loved the Coral Reef-- great service and great food. As far as O'Hana, we wanted to love it (big carnivores), but found the food very sweet. The service was also terrible. Just an off night, maybe. The breakfast is definitely better-- best juice/sausage on property (I know the breakfast skillets are all the same on property, but I swear theirs is somehow better!)

I know what you mean about the Asian food, but then again, that could be because we're asian! :rotfl: My DH really wants to try Yak & Yeti, so I can always let you know what we think when we get back. I'm also a little on the fence with going there. However, having said that, we almost always want an "asian food fix" so we typically hit up the Japan food stops for a quick hit.

I hope Hollywood & Vine is okay for breakfast. We booked it for the Einstein's character meal for our DD. I figure that most breakfasts are okay, right?:confused3

My DH has family in FL and they have never had good Chinese food. Up hear in Buffalo, we have the most amazing restaurants for all sorts of cuisines, so we're quite picky! H&V should be just fine for breakfast. A bfast buffet never disappoints. Dinner on the other hand....that's a little tricky. I used to love watching Little Eintein's when my DD was little. They are so cute!

Congrats on going back ! Very excited to hear your planning.

Thanks for coming over!!!

Ever since this year's promotion was announced, I've been looking through the list of volunteer opportunities. Nothing was really jumping out at me and many of the dates/times didn't fit into my schedule. Then, a few weeks ago, I saw that local nursing home was looking for Irish dancers! I posted the info on our schools message boards (yes, I have another message board to keep up with) and people got very excited about it. #1-It's a free ticket to Disney and #2-Nationals for Irish dancing are going to be held at the Swan and Dolphin this year (Madison is too young, but all of the very advanced girls go to Nationals to try and qualify for World's in Ireland).

A few days after I posted the info, the director of the school wrote that they are already performing at this nursing home for the GAD promo and whoever wanted to join in was more than welcome. Hooray!!! She didn't post the date and time of the show so I patiently waited. I couldn't sleep last night, so of course I hopped onto the DIS. I couldn't believe my eyes when I came across a thread talking about the end of the GAD promo! Looks like Disney is about to reach the 1 million volunteer mark and then they will not be giving out any more tickets! The thread said that TODAY was going to be the last day to register!!! :scared1: I quickly headed over to the GAD site and signed up. I can't believe it's only March and they're going to close down the promo.

Today, I received a phone call from the nursing home. I told the woman on the phone that I hadn't heard anything back from the director yet, but she told me the date and time and told me to sign up anyways. She said if Madison didn't end up dancing, we could still get the free tickets!!! :cool1: So, I logged into the GAD site and officially signed up.

I picked Madison up from school today and ended up running a bunch of errands (too much DISsing this morning to get my day going). I just got home a little while ago and there was an email from Madison's teacher. She is dancing at the show!!! :yay: Actually, she's dancing in 2 shows that evening..one right after the other. It looks like she will be going to school with curlers in her hair that day. :rotfl: I'm so excited that we get to take part in this promo. I don't know if we will use it to get the free ticket or use the fastpass option. I'll make that decision many months from now.

YAY!!! :yay: I am so glad you will be able to take advantage of AND use the free ticket/FP!!! :cool1: I have done my volunterring but have not recieved my ticket yet! :)

Here is my opinion (for what it's worth) of the ADRs we have had -

50's PTC: WE LOVED IT!!! Great food, wonderful service, FUN atmosphere!!! The servers seem to know which families are up to the "ribbing and teasing" so don't worry about that part! Our girs have VERY GOOD table manners and "Cousin Mikey" actually used them as an example to another table that was "misbehavin'"

CRT: Yummy food, beautiful restaurant, good service and PRINCESSES!!! princess: We really enjoyed it! Worth the 2 credits for us!

Crystal Palace We very much enjoyed this one because we met a GREAT DIS family there ;) Good Food too!

1900 Park Fare: Food was "meh" service was okay character experince was GREAT!!! (we did Breakfast) The resturant is beautiful! Would we do it again?? Probably not but I think that if it interests you, you should try it! :)

'Ohana: BEST FOOD EVER!!!!! We have had BOTH meals here and thoroughly enjoyed BOTH!!! This will be a must do for EVERY trip!!! :woohoo:

WCC: We did breakfast here. It was pretty good. Food was decent. Service was good. We didn't find breakfast to be too loud or boisterous. The coffee was good too! We would probably try it again if we were staying at WL but wouldn't go out of our way to eat there. Good but not Excellent. Again, if it interests you, you should try it! :goodvibes

I look forward to seeing what you choose! :goodvibes

Since ADR's are all I've been thinking about lately, I thought I'd come share my list with all of you. These are all the places I'd like to eat at someday(blue is new, red is where I've been before):

Wowwww I can't believe they're closing down the GAD promotion! I hadn't heard anything about them closing at 1 million volunteers! That's cheappp of Disney :headache:

But on the good side, you still get to be a part of it! So cool :thumbsup2

We met a great DIS family at CP too!! :goodvibes Tony and I actually JUST told Madison that we're going back in Sept. Just like when we told her about the June trip, she cried. They were tears of joy, so don't worry. She's just like her momma...very emotional! I was listening to "Wishes" while I waited to pick her up from school today and I had tears streaming down my face! Now that she's knows about the trip, we can discuss ADR's as a family. Both Maddie and Tony said the CP is a MUST!

Another one I would love to try.

All good choices good luck narrowing them down.

I know that I have quite the list. I've just heard so many great things about so many restaurants. At least we have 7 TS credits to play around with. June 09 was tricky because we only had 4. Never again!

I haven't read anything "official", but a DISer received an email from the place she was volunteering. The email stated that they had received word from Disney that they would be stopping the program soon. I don't know why they would have a promo that's supposed to run for a full year and then stop it after 2 months. It really doesn't make any sense! Plus, I feel bad for all of those organizations that would have had opportunities for volunteers later in the year. It's just not right.

Hey Meghan! Great that you got signed up in the nick of time for GAD. And what a fabulous option to volunteer by doing something that Madison loves such much! That opportunity was certainly meant for your family!:goodvibes

I am enjoying reading about your up coming trip

:banana::banana:

Thank you! After I get through this crazy weekend, I'll be sure to post more about my trip.

Maddie is really excited about performing at the nursing home. I'm so happy we're able to participate in this promo.

Hey Meghan!! I'm here!! So excited that you are finally going back! I know you have wanted to so badly!! I'm so happy for you!

I don't have too much to offer with your adr choices, but I LOVED LOVED LOVED Coral Reef. I would definitely go back and just highly recommend it!

 They're closing down the GAD promotion once they reach 1 million?! Wow...I can't believe that! But that's cool Madison is dancing!

:woohoo: for getting signed up for GAD!!!! And with it being Irish Dancing on top of it!! :cool1:

We are very excited that we're able to do GAD!

Kimmy!!! Thanks for coming over! I have to go check out your PTR too. Thanks for the CR recommendation!

I can't believe it either. It's a little strange to pick a theme for the year and then not run the program the whole time. I really wonder what they're going to do.

Congrats for getting in the GAD promo before it's over. I can't believe there's a limit. It's only March!!! Way to go Disney! It's kind of hypocritical to inspire people to give and then turn around and put a limit on what they're willing to give. :confused3

Thought I would help with ADRs and give my opinion!

Yak & Yeti - one of our faves! We seem to eat at it every trip!
50s Primetime - this is hit or miss, I love the home cooked meal but the service can be poor. We are eating here in August for the first time in a few years!
Mama Melrose - eating here with the fantasmic package this August! Never been before
Garden Grill - n/a
Teppan Edo - I've heard good things but we frequent a hibachi place locally and my expectations would be too high I think this is why we haven't been
Tutto Italia - n/a
Coral Reef - I love coral reef they have really good lobster bisque
CRT - i've eaten here twice for breakfast and it is so much fun but very expensive
Crystal Palace - our top breakfast pick! The make your own omelets are amazing! I ate here once for dinner and thought it was good too!
Cape May - Ate here for breakfast and loved how low key it was, I want to eat here for dinner but I travel with a seafood hater
1900 PF - I ate here for dinner and wore shirts I made that had the stepsisters/stepmother on them and it was such a HIT with them! If u go, u need to make Madison a stepsisters outfit (i can help with a shirt if you'd like) they will give her so much attention compared to all the other girls who are dressed like princesses
Chef Mickeys - Just okay
Kona - LOVE kona, a family favorite! Never ate here for breakfast but I love dinner!
'Ohana - ate here for dinner very good!
WCC - its mixed, i used to love it, but now I think its just okay

It does seem a bit strange. Still nothing official on the Disney site though. I just don't know how you can introduce a promotion and then do away with it after 2 months. Not cool!

Thank you SO much!!! I'm trying to get a plan going with park days and ADR's and it's starting to stress me out! If we happen to go to 1900 PF, I will definately take you up on the shirt offer. That is such a great idea.

Congrats on the GAD promotion, we just complete it! It was such a good project, we just mailed our package this morning. :yay: I"m hoping I did everything right and we get our tickets.
