Can I carry it easily on the ME and all the buses to the theme parks? Will it get in the way or will there be room for it?

THANKS!

double strollers are a pita on disney busses lolol. its doable but a pita. you have to fold it up, carry it & carry kids lolol.

You can fold it up and stand in the back of the line where the wheel chairs are loaded and they will let you take it into the back so it wont be so much in the way. I found that out last week on my trip. it is a pain though.....but worth it if you have 2 kiddos!!!

There is a huge storage compartment under the ME buses, so the driver can stow it there. It is a bit of a PITA on the Disney buses, especially if they are full. My dh usually stands by the rear exit w/ours, and I sit w/the kids and the Maclaren and pretend not to know him (just kidding!!). I loathe ours, but not enough to pay $31 a day!!! It is really only a bit miserable for the bus ride... once you get off the bus, all is good. Especially if it is rainy and you have your stroller cover, etc. Also, if you stay at Epcot area resorts, you really are only stroller wrangling on the bus for AK and MK. Or if you are on monorail, you are only wrangling for DHS and AK.

WE take the Mac also, and everytime the bus comes my Dh complains about the stroller. So we bought the Joovy ultra-light, now he complains of the price:rotfl:

I have a Graco double, too, and I wouldn't bring it with me. They are really bulky. We bought a Chicco double umbrella stroller (the Citta Twin, but I they have a newer model now) and that is much easier.. it still reclines and everything, it just takes up less space & is a lot lighter. Could you look around for something like that?

I wouldn't because they are a big pain on buses. Saw a few people last year have to wait for another bus because they were so full (mainy after fireworks or park closings) and they just couldn't fit a large stroller along with their family too. I would personally take 2 umbrella strollers before I would a double IMHO

Just wanted to point out that a lot of drivers won't allow any strollers in the back door.
I have seen people wait there and go in the back door while it is open to let passengers out. That is risky though because the driver does not have a good view of people getting into the back door, especially while other guests are coming in the front door. I have seen the door shut on people who were trying to get in the back door. I have also heard of situations where a parent sent the kids into the bus through the back door first and then the door closed before the parents got on.

If you want to try getting in the back door with a stroller, I'd suggest it's safer to wait in line until you get to the front, then ask if the driver can open the back door for you.
And, never get in the back door unless the driver knows you are getting in there.

Is it a side by side double stroller?
I just don't know how comfy my kids will be in an unbrella stroller and they have never been in a side by side one. They look uncomfortable to push- are they?

I was told by one of the head guys from the buses that if you have a large stroller and would like to enter the back door that they drivers must let you enter. If not to take down the bus number and the driver name and call the transportation line and tell them what happened and action will be taken. If it is a rather large stroller they MUST let you enter through the back door. IT is easier if you are there when the bus first loads though, then you can put it on the bus first and stand by the door with it. I even had a driver radio headquarters and ask about this while I was on the bus and the dispatcher told her that Yes they are to allow entry in the back door if the stroller is a large stroller. People just wanting to enter through the rear door are not permitted. You have to enter through the front door. Thats policy. The back door will be shut when the wheel chairs and large strollers are on board.
As far as children entering the back door, My husband stood in line with my two children to enter the front door. ONLY ME and the big stroller were at the back of the bus.

Once the bus is loaded, the driver will NOT open the back door for you and you must take the stroller in the front way. You must be back there waiting and the driver will see you when you are standing there when he pulls up and he will open the door for you.
We have an In Step Safari double stroller btw...

Even though it was a pain on the buses, we took our big Peg Perego double the first couple of times we went to Disney with our kids. The bus ride is just maybe 10 or 15 minutes, then I was glad to have it at the parks.

Also, it depends where you are staying. When we were at the Boardwalk, we could walk to Epcot and MGM or take the boats, so the stroller doesn't have to be folded (and the kids can stay put which is nice when they are little). So the buses weren't our only mode of transport. Also, when were at the Contemporary, the monorail was easy as well, just push it aboard.

If the kids are little, I think the minor inconvenience is worth it. When they were older, I'd just take one full size stroller. If I were alone, I would only take the single, as I needed DH's help with the double and the two kids.

I've read about stroller clips (a set of 3) that can be used to connect two umbrella strollers together. Does anyone know where these can be purchased?

Thanks in advance!

we purchased these at Toys R us last year when we were there. to connect our 2 single umbrella strollers. the middle wheel would keep turning and it would get off course. harder to manuever.

I have a big old graco front to back and decided not to bring it. I just felt it would be too hard on the buses and in the room. I got a Mac double side to side off ebay and am bringing that AND a Mac single. There is no was my oldest will walk the whole time. I will have my husband take the double on (they fold like umbrellas and have carry handle). I don't know whether he will have to carry both or if I will carry one and the baby. The one isn't hard to handle as it is light and has a handle. Also, my 1 year old is starting to get annoyed with not being able to see around her big brother or sister in front. My middle daughter never seemed to have a problem with it. The baby is kicking the kid in front, pulling their hair, trying to pear around them leaning way out of the stroller.... She is a little crazy.

We brought our Graco double when we went in Sept of last year and yes it was a pain but we managed and it was worth it. It kept the kids in one place in the airport and was great in the parks. The bus drivers were very helpful with getting the stoller in and out.
We decided to try and rent a double from the park just to try it out. It was a nightmare for us. Our kids didn't like being side-by-side and fought alot. Ya know the whole she is on my side thing. We also found that there wasn't enough storage for us either.
So when we are going back to the park in December the Graco is going too.

I say take what ever your children will be most comforatable in :goodvibes . Its a long day for them too!!

I agree...We have the Peg Perego Triplette (HUGE!!) and it is So worth the comfort for the kids. They slept longer too!! But then of course we drive.

I agree...do what is more comfy for the babies rather than easiest for you. It might be quicker on and off the bus but if babies are not comfy and get uber cranky none of that matters lol

Plus I like the cup holder and the space at the bottom to put our stuff.
As long as it CAN fit on the buses, then I guess we will bring the big double stroller. I won't have to deal with it anyway... my poor husband will!!

We did two umbrella strollers last time, Graco Ipos. They were ok, but the boys and DH and I were not as comfortable with them. THough they folded compactly for the bus.

This time we are going with our Graco Metrolites. They do not have a compact fold, but the basket is huge, there are 2 cupholders, plus the tray for the kids. It may be more difficult on the bus but everyone will be more comfortable.

The way I figure is we spend maybe 1 hour a day on a bus and 10+ hours in the parks. I will take our comfort in the park anyday over the bus.
